Fridge not getting cold

Yes as everyone has said, your fridge just needs a 'blow out' or more technically, a small dismantle of the gas burner assembly and clean. It would be interesting to tell us who it is who can't be bothered to do a one hour job and charge an hour's labour but instead try to sell you a new fridge. We don't want to go to them for any servicing or repairs.

Thanks for the offer @1 Cup but I'm a long way from Somerset or Scotland. @gasgas Evolution Campervan Conversions.

Can anyone recommend someone round Shropshire/Cheshire/North Wales for servicing. I remember I had a mobile chap from Rhyl once who was pretty useless.

I haven't used this guy but I've spoken to him on the phone and he was helpful.

I used to see him out and about in his van when I lived in Cheshire. The website is unusual, and amusing in parts...

Thanks, he looks good but I really need someone closer; he's wrong side of Cheshire and depending whether he comes quickest or shortest way it would be over £100 - £130 extra for his mileage.

have you got a caravan parts supplier local ? our shop would know of someone ,or they'd sort it

Don't forget to put the fidge door in storage mode . Caz
Can you still take photos of the outside of van = fridge vents as you mite be able to vacuumed from the outside vents jently ! I've taped a smaller tube to house vac inside pipe to get into the smaller places.

Is the cooker Hob still working ? Lol .

Only big dealers that I've used before for stuff and charge an arm and a leg.

Thanks @Tim120 - it can wait till a meet but not got any for a few months and was wanting to get it sorted.

@1 Cup Yes hob & heating still working fine. Don't know about hot water as don't carry water in winter. Fridge vents just look like they do on most vans.

Caz, if you feel at all like giving it a go yourself AND you use whatsapp then PM me and I'll do my best to talk you through it via a video call. If you've got a nearby handyman/friend who'd be up for giving you some help that would probably help, he could carry out the work and you could hold the phone. (maybe? just suggestin ;) )

Realised at New Year meet that my fridge isn't getting cold on gas anymore, although pilot light lit and chucking heat out the vent as normal. It still seems to be working OK on EHU, and the 12v whilst driving. I've enquired locally and am told it isn't worth repairing but they can fit me a new one. I didn't get a quote for a new one but they seem to be about £300 on Amazon, plus of course there would be a fitting charge.

Anyone any thoughts? What could be wrong (is gas a separate thermostat or something to leccy?) Is it worth repairing or can they just not be bothered?
You are being conned.

If it works on electricity, there is nothing wrong with the fridge.

A new 3-way fridge will be the wrong side of £1000, so they're quoting for a compressor fridge, which will eat your battery.

It's almost certain that the problem is a dirty burner or a clogged jet.

Either (or both) are easily fixed with less thsn half an hour's labour.

I generally clean my fridge's gas jet every year. The only difficult bit is not losing the tiny jet when I blast it through with a gas lighter refill.

I use these, you may be a bit too far away but them may recommend someone closer to you

I use "Dave the Gas Man" in Market Drayton. He's done various repairs and alterations for me, and he's fitting my new Truma heater next week.

There's also Martin at Bee Smart Leisure in Telford, who I used to use before I found Dave who is closer to me.

Where are you Caz? I am near Rugby. If its feasible I could pop over and fix it for you.
Thanks Andrew but I'm a long way from Rugby.

The one Rong has suggested seems to be closest so I'll try them tomorrow. Have had a bit of a hectic week last week, no time to do anything.
