Does anyone have any tips for getting to Edinburgh festival on the cheap?
That sounds like New Craighall Station at The FortI used to park in a railway station a few stops away from Edinburgh. It was a while ago but as I have short arms and deep pockets it must have been 'cheap'. I seem to remember the railway station car park had a price for 24 hours and no 'No Motorhomes Go Away You Nasty People' notices. Then just catch a train every day into town.
Edinburgh IS an expensive city . Beer prices don't , generally, go up during festival. They're already £5+ city centre .In Edinburgh on business at the moment nothing is cheap. Hotel £250+ per night, beer £6 per pint. All goes up at festival. Glad I'm on expenses
Drum estate? A bit close to bandit country for my liking. The Old Collery pub near Sheriffhall P&R allow overnighting. Bus to city.
The Scottish Region of the Camping & Caravanning Club have a four week THS at the Drum Estate. Full details are on the CCC Out & About app. £10 per unit night. Fresh water and Elsan disposal. Bus to City outside gate.
Been at the festival THS many times. Makes the membership fee worthwhile.

But think of the adverse impact on culture were it otherwise, Meg. Rebus would never have been born, and Sir Rankin's delicious line about Kirkcaldy's largest shop being 'Rejects' summing up the town would never have seen the light of day ...Show me somewhere in Edinburgh that does not have bandit country nearby!
Only been to Edinburgh once during the Festival period and it was good fun (only saw a few outdoor entertainment things mind). Think might have another visit next month - the C&CC THS sounds handy at a tenner (no idea where the Drum Estate is though), and with a free bus to the city, winner winner chicken dinnerThe Old Collery pub near Sheriffhall P&R allow overnighting.
