Edinburgh Festival

Hello, not sure what you mean by “cheap”, do mean to park for the night, accessing the various events that will be taking place, a wee tad more clarity would help. Cheers 🍻

On another Forum where the fun is alleged to occur, there is information about CCC Scottish Region running a Temporary Holiday Site during the Edinburgh Festival. Think it's £10 per unit per night for CCC Members

I used to park in a railway station a few stops away from Edinburgh. It was a while ago but as I have short arms and deep pockets it must have been 'cheap'. I seem to remember the railway station car park had a price for 24 hours and no 'No Motorhomes Go Away You Nasty People' notices. Then just catch a train every day into town.

That sounds like New Craighall Station at The Fort

The Old Collery pub near Sheriffhall P&R allow overnighting. Bus to city.
The Scottish Region of the Camping & Caravanning Club have a four week THS at the Drum Estate. Full details are on the CCC Out & About app. £10 per unit night. Fresh water and Elsan disposal. Bus to City outside gate.
Been at the festival THS many times. Makes the membership fee worthwhile.

In Edinburgh on business at the moment nothing is cheap. Hotel £250+ per night, beer £6 per pint. All goes up at festival. Glad I'm on expenses

Edinburgh IS an expensive city . Beer prices don't , generally, go up during festival. They're already £5+ city centre .
You can park free from 18.30 to 08.30 in lots of city centre places . Does mean you have to move in morning.
City centre parking periphery is not that big so you can find free parking within walking distance.
Other places suggested are all good , and you can have a long lie !

Drum estate? A bit close to bandit country for my liking.

Show me somewhere in Edinburgh that does not have bandit country nearby!
But think of the adverse impact on culture were it otherwise, Meg. Rebus would never have been born, and Sir Rankin's delicious line about Kirkcaldy's largest shop being 'Rejects' summing up the town would never have seen the light of day ... :ROFLMAO:

Only been to Edinburgh once during the Festival period and it was good fun (only saw a few outdoor entertainment things mind). Think might have another visit next month - the C&CC THS sounds handy at a tenner (no idea where the Drum Estate is though), and with a free bus to the city, winner winner chicken dinner :D
