No Roaming Charges.

hi tim just reading up on that i have 4 sims with three 2 x 100 gb 2 x unlimited one of each out of contract got them all because each gave me 25gb abroad going to get juggling later

Gif Gaf & Tesco both work from O2 and say the same some good priced contracts there at the moment. Also Asda mobile's site say's the same but work on Vodaphone who are introducing roaming and Asda hasn't replied to my query's

My wife had a sim on O2, we ended up changing it when she got a warning when we are out the UK stating you are only allowed 2 months roaming use.

We went to Spain for 5 weeks in November 2018 then came home for Xmas for 3 weeks, then we went off to Europe in the motorhome in January 2019 after a week of been out of the country she got a text from 02 stating she only had two weeks of roaming left before she would be charged.

I spoke to O2 saying she had used the phone back in the UK during the Xmas period, so we assumed the two month clock would restart, this wasn't the case. So be very wary of you intend roaming longer than two months.

Wouldn’t trust any of them but currently you’d have to go a long way to beat EE’s 24 month contracts with the ‘smart benefit’s’. If you pick the ‘roaming benefit’, you’ve no worries about that two month drop off in Europe. The 160GB/month is £25 and the 200GB/month costs £28. The £25 160GB plan is more than enough for us with a few hours streaming and the coverage is very good.

Just need to watch phone and router settings to make sure you aren’t latching on to networks outside those agreed ones when close by to them, that would soon eat into your allowance!!

This is what the small print says about price rises -

* Annual price increase

The monthly price shown, add-ons and all out of bundle charges will increase on or after 31st March every year by the Consumer Price Index rate of inflation published in January that year, plus 3.9%. See ee.co.uk/increase for details. Please note the cost of other services you take from us may increase or decrease while you're an EE customer.

Not giff gaff they switch you off if you do not spend recent time in the uk. They do not specify the time period.

Something else to think about is the sim in your trackers will they incur roaming charges as well

EE £25 deal with roaming benefit looks good but is there small print?

Hard to find if there is.

Just curious but would a VPN linked to a U.K. server get around data roaming restrictions?

When people mention paying £25 to 30 for a phone contract makes me cringe would be cheaper for me to pay the £2 roaming charges my monthly charge is £6 at present unlimited calls an texts 4 gb data which is all I need

Thats correct. get my Sim free with my home TV package, Unlimited everything including International roaming. was expecting Virgin at some time to start charging again, but no changes so far, and I am off to Spain for 2 months next week, so happy times. Wife has a SIM with Lebara and they are not charging for roaming either Its only EE,Vodafone and 3 who have reintroduced roaming charges, vote with your feet and change provider. if enough do it they will have to drop the charge..

Think you are correct . Market forces will make them change . Think when 1 company started free roaming they all followed pretty quickly .
Presume you are getting ferry to Spain ? Lucky baaalighter

Sounds like a good idea (Spain), what’s your monthly roaming allowance like with Virgin, I believe they charge £3.65 (+vat) per GB over your allowance?

As we are off to Spain for 2 months next week, I sorted out my mobile/data situation with EE.

We currently have 2 x pay monthly SIM only contracts with EE which costs £14 per month for both. For this we get calls, texts and around 5Gig of data. However we also have a 4G router at home with unlimited data and are able to gift data to our phones from this, should we desire. EE confirmed that under the plan we have, we would not get charged extra for using the phones abroad.

When I took out the contract on our 4G router at home I was told that it would work anywhere in the UK and across Europe. Now it transpires that it won't work across Europe according to EE! Bit miffed but my word against theirs so not a great deal to do about it really. Not worth shouting about it especially as the chap at EE - by way of apology for the confusion - gave us unlimited data (with a fair usage cap of 50Gig...so not really unlimited then?!) on our phones for the 2 months that we are away. He also explained how our mobile phones can be used as Hotspots, so we can in effect use them as a router so we can check our tablet and laptop, whilst away.

All in all not bad for 14 quid a month!

So with calls and texts free plus 50Gig of data a month, we are set. We'll use the data to just check emails, news etc. I have been downloading programmes from iPlayer and Netflix to watch off line, in case of bad weather plus we have a load of DVDs on board if we get bored.
