I bought this motorhome in October and since found out from backtracking previous owners in the history that it has not had a cambelt fitted in the past, and it's 11 years old, can i take it in to have a cambelt & water pump fitted while in lockdown. It's been cancelled 3 times and now it's booked in on the 18th Jan. Would I be breaking the law by taking it in while in lockdown

If needed you would have to take it for mot ,so why not a service item make sure it is booked in .

I'd say that was essential travel after 11yrs its essential to get it done asap
After thought seeing as how its not been done does it have one

Would not worry to much loads of footballers driving around all over the place and certainly not social distancing as seen on Tv and to be honest it's hardly essential playing a game of football..
Wouldn't know i've not been through the door since lockdown

Cam belts should be changed at 5/7 years and 70 th miles, do mark some screws etc with a thin line of paint out of sight to them but where you can see in a mirror, my new to me car I bought came with all paperwook stating full services, I thought I would would just have a look, it was never serviced, plugs rusted, rear wheels stuck on and one grease cap not there from new, rear wheel bearings shot, r brakes shoes delaminating, front pads almost at metal, oil like porridge and filter rusted, so do mark yours as many are spanish dancers and dont do the work.

I checked with the police today and they told if the motorhome was my only vehicle and the work was essential that would be ok, but as i own a everyday car as well it would be classed at non essential and i would be breaking the law. So that's that I'm afraid

Now you have asked the Police you have no choice but if you are not using it then get it done as soon as possible, my cambelt isn't due for a few years but it has been stood for a long time so I will change it before it goes for it's MOT which is due on the 24th but I will not be doing untill March, they rev it more than me 😁

So if the car is your wife's vehicle and the motorhome is yours ???
