Mot booked for Tuesday will the testing stations stay open during lockdown

Why not ring them first thing tomorrow morning ( monday ) and ask if they are open

Better coming straight from the horses mouth so to speak than my mate down the pub / who`s it on the forum said ........................................................... o_O

Yes my thought was if some work is needed will they be open to re mot within the two weeks or will I get charged again
I did try ringing on Saturday but no one picking up
I also thought perhaps wrongly mot stations had shut down in March lockdown as I had two car mots extended on line

Yes MOT's were extended, however despite lockdown one of the garages I use was still open and stil doing MOT's, which was very good for me because it kept my classic cars schedule of servicing fully up to date.

There is no compulsion for garages to close, so it would be the owners choice to close not the governments dictates. I would guess all garages will be open.

Well if it has failed needing work and they do shut like in march you could be well stuffed they may extend the grace period but you wont be able to use it

I think I have over complicated the question
My question should have read do mot stations stay open during lockdown
We returned in April straight into lockdown and had vehicles mot extended by six months hence I thought they had all closed.
An Internet search tells me they did not so apologies for time wasting

Beware that If you are taking a vehicle that is in the "extended" period and it fails it states on the fail certificate the the vehicle no longer has a valid MOT and isn't legal to use, this caught us out when ours failed on the exhaust. We use the local council depot who don't do any repairs so we were able to take it away for the work to be done.

Del

My garage stayed open through the last lockdown. I had the MOT on my van done even though it would have been extended, for my own peace of mind.

In Wales, I had booked MOT two weeks in advance. We went into local lockdown The Monday of the appointment. Phoned garage to ask if they would accept van for test, they had no problem at all. Ring and ask, it could save a wasted trip.

Don't leave it to book MOT till last minute either all near here are booked up solid for 2 weeks as doing the deferred ones as well

Landrover passed on Saturday MOHO booken in for 14th this month...

Asked regarding potential lockdown and they expecting to continue (as last time)
With sensible precautions in place.

The van's mot is due on 30th November but I booked her in for tomorrow at the beginning of September when I discovered the garage couldn't repair my car for three weeks, so I scrapped the car.

Sailed through the MOT this week with a couple of advisories....not bad for 20 yrs old....mind, cos of covid among other things, it had just over 2000 miles more, since the last test 18 months ago.
Is that the van or the car Sue? either way it is one less thing to worry about 😘

Businesses may be allowed to stay open and we might be allowed to take our motorhomes to be tested BUT if we can't use them then perhaps we should ask ourselves whether doing so is essential.
For most of us I suspect that he answer is NO.
Of course for some it's our only transport and therefore needed for essential journeys such as shopping or getting to work that we can't do at home.

The van Terry...,the car doesn't bother me but the van......well that can be heartstopping and i dont know why....most things can be repaired.
