Mot during lockdown

Businesses may be allowed to stay open and we might be allowed to take our motorhomes to be tested BUT if we can't use them then perhaps we should ask ourselves whether doing so is essential.
For most of us I suspect that he answer is NO.
Of course for some it's our only transport and therefore needed for essential journeys such as shopping or getting to work that we can't do at home.
Potentially got some hospital appointments coming up with a start time of 7.30 and there all day. I'm considering taking the van and overnighting on the hospital car park .

Do check the car park rules. We ended up with a parking ticket. :(

All garages have backlogs of work they're catching up with, so I doubt very much that any garages will be shutting during lockdown, unless they can afford to, or have decided they want a holiday as they've all been working pretty flat out since the last lockdown was lifted.

It's easy enough to check this information on the government and DVLA websites, so there is no real reason to ask this covid-related question on the forum (questions like this massively wind me up because I have to be very careful how I respond).

However, in the spirit of co-operation and always in an attempt to be helpful, here is the relevant extract from the government website for anyone who can't be bothered to look it up for themselves.

In summary, nothing has changed recently with the rules regarding garages opening for MOTs and repairs/servicing work, so feel free to book in your campers, cars and motorcycles for whatever they require. It matters not one jot whether it's essential or not, so I say fill yer boots! ;) (y)

Rules on opening
You’re still allowed to open your garage or MOT centre and carry out MOT tests.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has published guidance for vehicle owners that says:

Your MOT centre can stay open after 30 March 2020 to carry out MOTs if you need to. This could include retests or tests of a vehicle that had an MOT due before 30 March.

Garages can also stay open to carry out repairs or services as well.

I wondered about that.....but, there are no parking charges at the moment. To get there for the time they want I might as well not go to bed.
If they have security on duty, it would be worth telling them you are overnighting in the car park. But if not, suggest you park near A&E as often vehicles are there for long periods....hopefully there will be a little corner you can park in and nobody will notice you are in it!
