Location App support thread

Have tried it over the weekend a number of times, works really well on Android (I don't give a t;#5 about Apple), so much better than the previous app.

Good job Phil.

I’m getting a “oops something went wrong, can’t load google maps, then a blank page.
Then something about a java console (?)!

I’m clicking on the link in the email you sent me. The link works correctly. When I go to the ‘send to’ button there is no ‘send to home screen ‘ setting.
so I go to ‘copy’. Close the screen from the email link and open Safari (iPad). Paste the ‘copied’ URL. The app briefly flashes up then goes blank with an error message referring to java console.

Problem solved! There’s a tiny compass needle-shaped icon in the top right corner of the screen (location services?) I tapped that, tried again and all was well.

No POIs visible today !
OK yesterday
Windows 10 Laptop Chrome browser

Fixed by entering a name in the search box !

I have been using the location app over the past few days to assist in our next trip, September !!!!!

Everything works perfectly and a nice handy addition to the poi database.

Thanks Phil.

It was last August.

We don’t offer offline functionality. So you are not losing anything that we normally offer. Poi downloads may not be available in 18 months but they still available until then.

I also wild camp and it is very rare that I have no service. If I have no service then I drive a bit until I get service. I generally plan ahead and know where I am going for the next few days and already have them programmed in my TomTom.
Lack of POI downloads would be a major drawback for me; I can research online, offline using Maps.Me, and have all the POIs in my Garmin available at a moment's notice wherever I may be.

I have removed my post from yesterday as there has been a change and I am reviewing the situation.

Loving the app :)

Where a pub has been signposted with a PH does that mean the owner has previously granted the use of the car park for overnighting or its just a member recommended pub?

It means that one of our members has submitted it so someone will have stayed there before. The new verification system will help know which locations are current.

Phil,

When you add a POI and are writing the description in the box the words being typed end up under a fixed word in the box (apologies I cant remember what the word is) so you cant see what you're typing clearly. Just some feedback
