Location App support thread

Hi Phil. On my iPhone all looks A1 ok. On my iPad. Did exactly the same. But all I get is a black page with the near me map type on the bottom. So what have I or haven't I clicked. Sorry brian.

Looking at the changes in a years on the recent community post is it possible to make the location app work offline, one of the great attractions of the community was the option to use poi's offline, also it would appear that we will be unable to update our sat nav's etc with POI's in the future. Not everyone can afford Data rich contracts.
The raffle changes is not a deal breaker but i did like to donate some of mine to the monthly charity.
That's why i put a sad face on the post, really hope thinks pick up and some changes are not implemented.

The cost of offline mapping single device licences is more than I charge for a years membership, so the only option is a block licence. The lowest quote I got for this was over $50,000. I did look at buying map licences and running my own dedicated mapping servers, this was cheaper by a lot more than the memberships I could potentially lose for not having offline mapping.

Is your ipad running ios 12.2 or better?

Just open the web app in Safari and use it.
Ok, I tried that from - the link in your email, yes? But same as the app, my screen is just black (although I do see the icons - just no map). It's fine on my phone, am I doing something wrong?

Sorry but we do not have the financial resources to pay for an offline mapping service. I did a survey of members and offline mapping was low on the list of required features.
HI @Geeky Philip When was the survey of members taken? I really find it difficult see how it would be low on the list, some of the areas i like to go have no mobile signal "I like to wild camp" and offline access via app has been invaluable. However i can see the issues with cost on the new platform, please don't remove access to an offline option in the future. So is a cost associated with maps me up keep at the moment?

Hi Phil. Hey it's a good job you have a lot of patience. Or is it patients. I am running iPad on iOS 10.3.3. It says up to date

Hi, losing the offline function within the app would not be a major problem for me if the poi's remain available to download. This would enable me to use them for navigational purposes, when in area's with no online signal.
Surely there is no financial cost in providing the poi downloads ?

I use maps me a lot and it's free to download, i also keep my sat nav up to date so i agree if it the poi's where still available and maintained to download in the future that would be great.

Is it just me or are others experiencing long delays liking a post? (more than 10 scs, unlike is instant)

Your I pad must be pretty old if it won’t let you update past 10.3.3
This is apple’s way of making you buy a new iPad

It was last August.

We don’t offer offline functionality. So you are not losing anything that we normally offer. Poi downloads may not be available in 18 months but they still available until then.

I also wild camp and it is very rare that I have no service. If I have no service then I drive a bit until I get service. I generally plan ahead and know where I am going for the next few days and already have them programmed in my TomTom.

This because I am deleting lots of inactive users. These days I cannot just delete, the system has to anonymise their data.
