Yet Another frozen pipe problem,,,,

Just an ordinary 12 volt submersible pump. I always carry a spare and the one you have cost me about £40
You could try CAK Tanks.
Just two wires, but if you have not got one, put a isolation switch in the line so you can turn the pump off while leaving the 12 volt on.
saves removing the fuse when draining.

Hi Mothman only just read your post, get a fan heater or something similar on your van, open cupboards and shower room door and let it all defrost then open all taps.

John.

So when the system is back up and running is there anything i need to do ie bleed it in any way or does the boiler not need anything doing to it, is it a case of just filling up the on board water? does that fill the boiler automaticaly????

Many thanks Again for all your help guys,,

Put some water in the tank, to submerse the pump, open all of the taps on hot with the pump running, it will gurgle for a few minutes. When the water runs freely, do the same with cold. When the cold runs freely the whole system is full.
You MUST do the hot first otherwise the boiler will not fill properly.
Going off line noe as having difficulty with connection as wilding

Hi ***** UPDATE,, ive just found the Yellow water dump coming off the silver pipe UNDER THE SINK in a finger hole,,,its too frozen to relese the water so ive took the silver pipe off the Boiler and drained all the water out of it, just have to try to warm the van up to get rid of the ice in the pipes then see if any damage has been caused? ive broken the water pump now being heave handed:mad2::mad2::mad2: So thanks for the advice really good of you and all,

This is the pump its a Reich Euro - power pump

Does the writing on the pump mean anything to you guys? best place to buy one, Ebay????

cheers guys

Mothman,,,,

It's an submersible booster pump Barry...you mustn't let this freeze as the casing will split with the expansion of the ice inside.....I had an in-line one and it happened to me even when I drained the water tank. If it lives outside the van you'll have to lag it. I cant read the writing very well but I think it Says 18 litres/min.....That is the pressure rate...it will pump 18 litres in 1 minute.....the bar figure is European pressure measurement I think it means Kilos per Sq Centimetre. You can get them at most Caravan and motorhome accesories shops.

The 1 bar on the pump is the operating pressure.

1 bar = 1 atmosphere = 15 pounds per sq. inch (14.7 actually) = 100 Kilopascals.

Looking at the photo of the OP's Truma, there is no sign of the air inlet valve that is normally fitted to Trumas to allow the water to drain out when the automatic valve operates. Without that valve, it could take a very long time for the tank to drain even if any automatic valve did operate.

BTW If everything has really frozen up solid at some time, be prepared for a damaged Truma tank as well
