Looking at a fiat ducato campervan on faceache today for our friends in Kent, looking at the Advisories on mot history and for the last mot they commented the tyre was 20 years old , ive messaged and asked some questions about history and servicing etc and mentioned the tyre , the responce was well it got an mot why am i worried about it , when asked if he would change the tyre or fit the spare if we bought it the answer was bring a jack and you can do it outside my house , if thats the attitude when selling a van he can keep it, makes you wonder what else has been neglected although it does have an average mot history but you dont know how long he has owned it

Always look at oil filter top ring, if its rusty and engine oil pure blake walk away.
Very few look after cars vans here, they just drive to it dies or trade in after 3 years, someone elses problems then.

Unfortunately that seems to be a typical kind of can’t-be-bothered, creeping malaise these days, Andy, and *rsebook is rife with it.

How the hell some folk manage to get rid of some of the stuff they list on FB marketplace is a complete mystery to me - actually, that’s a lie, it’s not a mystery at all, they simply don’t manage to get rid of it! 😜 😈

Uber-lazy listings with hasty, out of focus photo (if you’re lucky there might be more than one) and that’s about yer lot. Seems a helluva lot of people out there aren’t capable of stringing together an intelligible sentence. As for measurements and sizes, dream on!!! You’re lucky if they manage to get as far as posting up an out of focus, completely useless photo of a tape measure which can’t be read (even if you zoom in) against some unidentified object with the “sizes in pics” or “measurements in photos” - second caption only in use by those who can spell big words - in the item description. Matters not the words used though, my guess is they can’t read tape measurements either which is why they aren’t capable of typing them into the description 🙄 😎

Never mind, I’m sure AI will be capable of doing all the thinking for them in the future (not). 😜🫪🤣

Grrr! Rant over… 🙃

Many years back whilst viewing motorhomes we came across a one that had a couple of tyres on the back that were 18 years old but had only done 10,000 miles.

I said if we buy it i want new tyres all round and the salesman said ...................... there's loads of tread left on them they're fine ........... we walked away.

Maybe they haven't got a jack or maybe they are incapable of changing a wheel. Not everybody can. Doing anything simply by messaging is crap anyway as anything and everything can be misleading. Far better to speak to people or better still arrange to go look and speak. Sellers on FB can be messed about something chronic. Everyone that messages you say they wont mess you about and loads arrange to look and then don't bother turning up.

So very true, but in terms of getting rid of stuff or finding stuff I find it's just an irritating and chaotic mess.

At least eBay has a well developed selling and buying system which actually works and there is a relatively civilised and more reliable way of communicating information at every level. 🤷‍♀️

Also, note that I am 100% prejudiced. I've detested *rsebook from the very start in 2004! 🤷‍♀️ 😜🤣

Like it or loath it FB can be a very useful tool. It all depends on how and what you use it for. As we have seen numerous times on this forum alone, some are incapable of simply ignoring what they personally do not like. For me the worst part is the manipulation of people through misinformation and the people doing it know they are lying through their teeth. Unfortunately that is now the world we live in.

It can be a useful tool, just not one I am overly enamoured about using.
It's clunky and badly designed and never seems to improve itself.

Unfortunately it has established a massive grip for itself in the social meedja arena, so forced to use it latterly because some of the people I need to be connected with use nothing else 🤷‍♀️

It's interesting that there is a law for HGV's that says 10years maximum. Only for steer tyres though....

I changed the drive tyres on the lorry as they were 16 years old. The company wanted something like 50 quid to dispose of the old ones so I stuck them on eBay for 100 quid thinking they would be absolutely fine for a farm truck or something. The guy who bought them drove four hours to collect 😱
