Would it be a good idea, Sat Nav's

if we are in the pub who needs the coordinates to program ther sat nav to find the bar:D

Yes, I know exactly where you are coming from as I have had very similar experiences.
In fact I was up Jarrow going to Tradeteam. I knew the way and I went my way and a colleague went via sat nav through the town and I got there first and he said he wasn't held up. He followed me back home.:D
On another occasion I had a map and a colleague had sat nav and the sat nav sent him down the wrong road:eek::D
I think that they have their uses but I would never rely on one
never rely on them 100% allways use common sense and read the road signs, you usualy get a warning of a low bridge, narrow lane or weight restriction anyway

Good advice Walkers, but i for one have never relied on mine 100% and its good pratice to carry a upto date map in case of problems with your sat nav :)

i have downloaded poi for low bridges i think there is a link on graham hadfields website, yes i agree allways carry a map in case your satnav breaks or someone steals it

miss Gepeeyes

Completely agree with you all
But: Wiffie is co-pilot. She's the Mrs Bucket-type:eek:: holds the map upside down; watch the horse !(in the meadow). I'm allways wrong you know :D
But now we are a trio.:p Met her in the Aldi. She has a sexy voice (even in dutch), she's polite, doesn't argue, never gives a bad worth, doesn't swear,
never raises her voice, I'm allways right even when I'm wrong. And most of all: I can shut her down whenever I desire
Her name is Miss Gepeeyes; and she was very cheap. You should try her; she's a refrement for a 'senior' :D

sat nav

I bought my hubby a sat nav for crimbo, but dont know how to put places in yet, but i think its a good idea, I reckon they are ok, if used as a aid, say lost in paris, sure they will get you back on the right track, but i wouldnt like to totally rely on one LOL.

Just had a week in spain, , lovely weather, missed my camping forum though :(

Hi, Julie welcome back, no don't ever totally rely on one that what your hubby is for.;)

***** i think they are a good thing for the oldies if they are like me and forget what road they are on senile dementure you know LOL:eek:.
And it stops the wife having a panic attack and screaming at you where are we going to go, where are we going to sleep, we best go home, its your fault you dum wasik,

I had to buy one in 04, after we got diverted in France and my wife was trying to get us back on course, she had three pairs of glasses to shuffle, reading, distance and sun a map and when she tried to lean out of a closed window to look at a road sign and broke a pair and the map went flying up the van................ the decision was made and sod the expense went down better than any flowers.

The point i am trying to make is that all wild sites are not all that easy to find especialy if it dark and way off the beaten track so GPS would thake you to the exact location, but for the ones that can cope without Sat Nav all well and good.

aye trev ur rite there mate,it's a nitemare trying to find somewere in the dark..i dont have a a satnav .but i would like one for that reason..
