Would it be a good idea, Sat Nav's

I think it would it be a good idea if wilders with sat navs to post latitude longitude GPS coordination's of the wild site's that they use along with some information of the site as well then we could save them in our sat nav's as POI (points of interest) imagine how easy it would be to find a wild site even if you got there in the dark.
I have already posted some GPS coordination's around the Amble area of Northumberland but there seem's to be a lack of interest in anyone posting coordination's.

Good idea Trevor but I havn't got a sat nav and I do over 100,000 miles per year.
Some times I do get tempted,;) but it would only be a toy :rolleyes:as a good old fashioned map is ok by me:cool:

i have driven since i was 17 and now i am 55 , a map of this country is in my head (thats about all) HA HA. if i had a sat nav it will take me longer to program into it whare i am going than to get there:D.

Hi Mandrake, I think we will leave it to the youngsters to get sat navs and get lost:eek::D;)

The point i am trying to make is that all wild sites are not all that easy to find especialy if it dark and way off the beaten track so GPS would thake you to the exact location, but for the ones that can cope without Sat Nav all well and good.

Granted but there are them that have problems but are they using them proply and there are poi's for wagon drivers such as low bridges etcetera.:)

Yes, I know exactly where you are coming from as I have had very similar experiences.
In fact I was up Jarrow going to Tradeteam. I knew the way and I went my way and a colleague went via sat nav through the town and I got there first and he said he wasn't held up. He followed me back home.:D
On another occasion I had a map and a colleague had sat nav and the sat nav sent him down the wrong road:eek::D
I think that they have their uses but I would never rely on one

wish I knew how to download POI's:eek:. No mention in manuel, So maybe I cant.

***** the amount of years you have been driving has given you a lot of knowledge undoubtedly, and i can see that you would never need one but speaking for myself i woul not be without one now. ;)
