Sorry guys let the side down, took the little one to mablethorpe and booked on the haven site, wilding it isnt for 9yr olds he like friends to play with, must say we wernt crampt but so far away from everything if id know i would of taken my toilet and tent :)

I used to find wild camping quite daunting, but after a while I think you get kinda acclimatised to the sounds of the mad axe murderers and hills have eyes type people in the darkness outside the thin skin of your van and that fragile lock!!! ONLY KIDDIN its a lot safer than folk think, never been bothered in 20 years apart from the french customs wakin me up one mornin to let their labrador have a quick sniff around. thanx for the welcome!!

yes i agree with you there...we had a caravan for years & then decided on the motorhome,so we carried on going on camp sites for a while...then we saw the light & started wildcamping & at 1st it was very daunting...always listening out for noises & worried about getting moved on..but our confidence has grown & with thanks to this site we now regularly enjoy wildcamping & try to avoid campsites where we can..sammx ;)

It's so you can report a BAD, NASTY, UPSETTING etc, etc post or thread to a Moderator or Administrator.

what, so that I can report it or you can report it because it's on your reply to me!! top right hand corner

It's on EVERY Post. It is to allow ANYONE to report misuse in any posting.

ie; A Spammer might come on and start publishing Porno photos etc. You report it and it gets deleted.

Last weekend we spent at Dartmouth and the weekend before at Charmouth. Both on official sites!!!
Mind you they were organised events so wouldn't have been possible in a wildcamping setting.

This week end spent servicing the van, Well watching someone else service the van if truth be told. Then today fitted a new lock to the rear doors of the van, all in preparation for our trip to Euroland this weekend coming.

I think that it is very sad that people cannot even be bothered to spell normally and use 'text language' in a forum. Why? This is a forum, not a mobile phone. Where's it all going to end?

I know that I'm a bit old-fashioned but sometimes, old-fashioned values are preferable. I wold never criticise anyone's grammar or spelling but this is different and is a sad reflection on modern times. I've no doubt that I'll now be severely censured by a lot of people who don't have the same standards as I do so perhaps it's best that, having made my point, I move to another forum.

I agree with you about proper spelling and punctuation etc.
I always preview my posts and add coma's, full stops, etc.before posting
I suspect that your english teacher, many years ago, was like mine.
a stickler for proper english.

  sundown

p.s you spelled "would" wrong go to the bottom of the class :D :D

Hi WeeJock.
I agree with you completly about the use of "text" language, I personally find it difficult to read. I also feel that posters should make a reasonable attempt with the spelling, punctuation and grammer, however I do realise that most people on here, including me, are not academics, and therefore I do not expect perfection, I find the general standard on here to be quite good and much better than many other forums.

What I do find difficult to understand is the last part of your statment,

<I've no doubt that I'll now be severely censured by a lot of people who don't have the same standards as I do so perhaps it's best that, having made my point, I move to another forum.>

and why you have used a post that is over 4 months old, posted by someone who has played no active part on this forum for over a month, to accuse the majority of users of having poor standards, not only do I think this is untrue, but find this statement aggressive and some what offensive.
In conclusion to this, either you have joined this forum just to stir up trouble, or you have commited the same offence that you are bemoaning, that of misuse of the English language, in this case one of emphasis rather than one of grammer, I sincerly hope it is the latter.

If, as I suspect it may be, this is just a poor choice of words, something I am regularly guilty of myself, please don't be offended, but i feel it does show how easy it is to "write the wrong thing"

one of favorite area's Cornwall but in the summer it seemed like
every beach location had sombody standing with their hand
out for money if you wanted to look at few it cost a wee fortune
£5.00 a go is this the same off season I fell out with a guy
at the end off a lane leading to a beach who took my money
and when got down to car park there was a barrier in place he
refused a refund totally said his mentor had just been to
take his takings :mad::mad::mad:

just to keep this thread going

My name is loubylou. I am a fair-weather camper, there, I've said it. We dont have any heating in Evie (our van) except the cooker. And I like being warm (which is ok when I'm in my sleeping bag, but sitting outside having a drink gets too chilly for me. So I really enjoy just taking our Evie out for the day and last sunday we went to watch our lad play in his rugby match, I popped the top and we had our sauage sandwiches and hot coffee on tap. Briliant, felt like summer. Just abit colder:rolleyes:
