If a Remis, which we have, they are rather complicated and flappy sloppy things. We've have had three in 11 yrs with failed hinges incl one with failed cable mechanism. Highbridge Caravans nr Bridgwater Somerset always had everything in stock and fitted them at a very reasonable price, weird i know. The product is not all it's cracked (pun) up to be, but maybe later ones have better hinges. Always very careful when operating ours for fear of yet another failure. Don't get me started on their super fragile rattly concertina blinds!

Not sure what you people do to your vans sometimes
My vents (two cable ones and one with a rotary mechanism to go up and down) have not had any problems and work as they should. Then again, they are only 17 years old.

Possibly some folk have no mechanical sympathy and don't stop when they feel resistance and just become Borg on things.
