if you put up the link others who know about awnings can better advise you - i dont have one -

anything "unusually cheap" may have dropped off a wagon or two..... wink wink....

It may be better to get your van first have a few trips and then decide, you may Even fancy Fiamma awning

Be aware of unusually cheap things on Amazon. I was after a Propex heater and one was advertised on Amazon for £423, when I checked later the ad had disappeared. Then it returned offered by a different company. This continued for a week that I checked.
I finally bought the Propex from Olearys.

Cross purposes then, more of a Safari room, and not a normal wind out awning:rolleyes2:

We need to consider they are new to this crazy hobby / lifestyle that we enjoy and will probably not know the correct terminology.

As it's a new very expensive motorhome you may find that it has a special awning that fits it or needs special brackets to hold it in place. Unless you get your Dealer to fit it you may find that you invalidate the warrantee as soon as you drill the first hole. I wanted to fit our Snipe Ariel on the roof of the Liaka so I asked Southdowns to fit the waterproof gland to the roof while they were fitting the solar panel. The arial base was then stuck in place. No screws so no warrantee issues.

The placement of the brackets is also crucial because the manufacturers do have an annoying habit of putting cables in the walls just like they do in new houses. Only difference is they don't mark the position they just tell the Dealer where the brackets fit.

..

bentleysontour it would probably be better if you don`t rush into any new purchases before you get your new motorhome.

Maybe attend a Wild Camping meet in your area and have a good chat to our members who will offer help and advice once they see what you have.

Agreed, wish I had with my first motorhome.
I used it twice as most of my time Is spent wilding when it is not appropriate to use an awning. The Fiamma awning was my worst investment, solar panels the best.

Hi ya,
Can I just ask,,, Why do you think you will need an Awning ?.

Now just to be clear, I'm NOT saying DONT get one, I'm genuinely asking if you REALLY need one !. I have had The Nest,& been a Full time Livaboard on it for over 2 years now, & Never used my Flamia F45 Wind out Awning ONECE !. NOT ONCE !. I've actually Taken it off & Offered it for sale on here (For sale n Wanted board). I've saved some 28kg in Payload weight & Haven't missed it at all. The same with my Scooter carrier, another 30kg saved in Payload weight. SO I guess I'm saying Use your new Motor Home before deciding on stuff like that !.

Only because of the sleeping capacity my van has, it will only sleep four, at best there will be five of us, at worse 9, when other members of the family will join us, and they have to sleep somewhere.....

I know, i know you are right, but i feel like a kid at christmas! lol!...

lol yes spot on! £1300.00 at the dealers, most of them on amazon are 999.99 but there is one for 500. they are pumped up with air, no pegs or nothing, but me and my girls are going to have to put it up, and you can just imagine it cant you ? None of us know are left from our right haha

The awning that has been linked to is not inflatable,it has aluminium poles. Also the air awnings do use pegs and guy ropes the same as a conventional awning.

I have a Kampa Rally air 260 which I can highly recommend, after having standard awnings in the past with steel poles the air awnings are much more user friendly, surprisingly stable in high winds and an upgrade. They slide into the channel of the existing fitted awning and are really easy to inflate and erect. To order the right size awning the height from the ground to the awning channel has to be measured and also you have to check it will clear the habitation door, garage, windows and any external lockers.

Probably a good idea to wait until you have had a couple of trips out in the new van and sorting out the dimensions before ordering an awning.

sorry to hijack

Zombie, will that 45 fit my boxer I wonder? I have an inkling it might...

I bought an F1 in a fit of excitement and of course not a chance of fitting :O ...

Understood, maybe it was a wrong link, but the awning i want is the Kampa Rally Air 400 L, it was in the showroom of the dealers also, maybe asking the dealer might be a way forward to see if it will fit.Doh! should of thought of that first time round lol

Just for extra sleeping space why not get a Tent how often are your family going to turn up after the first few times ?
