Will the war affect us?

I am due to go to France in May and wondered about the effects of the war on fuel? I have read about the problems already impacting food imports and with restricted oil will that be the same?

I found myself locked down in a carpark nr Seville with the Covid lockdown that was done sooner than anyone else.

I don't want to be stranded in central France when they start to ration fuel!!!

Seems alright at the moment but what we don't want is people panic buying when there is no need. That often leads to problems I think.

During a previous fuel uncertainty in France due to strikes a few years ago, we arrived in Cherbourg with a full tank (90 L). We considered 3 courses of action.

90L gives us a range of 900km, so,
560 km would have seen us into Belgium,
Or
960 km would take us to Irun (with the wind behind us)

Our other option was to travel within a 450 km radius of Cherbourg. IE keeping sufficient fuel to get back to the port. Plenty to see and do in that radius.

As it transpired, fuel could be obtained, just not everywhere, so we kept topped up at every opportunity.
This year we are hoping to get into Italy, so we shall see how it develops. I think I would still go for the 450 radius if things are tight on the fuel front assuming nothing else causes upset.

Unless Chump comes up with a way of getting out of this mess by blaming everyone else, then there will be fuel shortages.
Of course he'll blame everybody else, whatever happens.
We're off to France for the whole of May, may have to curtail the mileage a bit depending on how things develop

May you say. may be an idea to ask again in June. :p :)

Or have a jerry can or three full of fuel just in case.

I'm looking forward to the power cuts and fuel rationing, especially now the weathers improving, home solar and battery system will come into their own.

As for fuel shortages its looking quite likely, but it's a fair bet that things will change direction at some point in the near future. Body swerving the politics here.

Travelling north in Spain the fuel seems to be getting cheaper, €1.649/L at last top up, though have seen it at €2.089/L. With a 400 mile range we've been topping up before getting down to half a tank.

There’s a lot of double posts just now, think it may be due to the site maintenance/upgrade

Even without rationing (if this does happen). With the high cost of fuel, fuel theft will increase. It would be bad enough fueling my 90 litre tank at todays derv costco price of 162ppl =£146.00. Then there is cost of replacement tank, as tank is drilled to drain fuel off.

There already reports of kero theft at remote areas. Sad times ahead!!

We too are supposed to be heading to Spain in two weeks time, so watching the fuel situation, quite a few garages around here have run out of fuel,
I am not too concerned about the price as it just means this year the holiday will cost a little bit more than last year,
Cheaper would be nice, but more concerned about availability

The scumbags will be following the delivery trucks Terry to see who has nice full tanks to raid.

We're getting a delivery today. :(

I have a 2500l diesel tank still after closing the business Rob, had it filled a few weeks back if matey comes near that I’ve got a shock for him, literally.

Yeah we've got a camera, light and alarm on ours Kev and I can see it from my bed through the patio doors.

I would let Tilly out to deal with them but unfortunately she would end up getting either stabbed or destroyed for hurting them. :(

A few cartridges never hindered me, addresses for oil tanks please.
