Wild in Spain

Hi all

I am now booked for our fisrt trip to Santander .
I have Google earthed the coast line around the port and along the top edge ,
The small coves and beaches look fantastic and ok to wild camp.
Can anyone tell me how safe it is to wild camp in that area.
Tips for spots are welcomed.

Cheers for any help and info Provided.

thanks tim

Try the big carpark up by the lighthouse. Leave the port, turn right and slowly follow the slow rise to the top.plenty of space but can be windy.I seem to think, bit not sure, but there may be a campsite there .

Google Earth

I see a new entry to the dictionaries

Following on from "I Googled it"
" I Google Earthed it" or Maybe I "Gearthed it"

anyway better than "Glamping"

I have struggled all my life to spell correctly .
And when i read your response to my request for info on Spain it reminded me of the few tossers that are still out there feeling brave to call someone over the net.
I would love to meet up some day to discuss your problem with my spellings.

Just meant to be a joke on Googled etc

Not intending to criticise...I never do over the web ...(even if I might want to)

wildcamping santander

I did wildcamping with motorhome between santander and biarritz france, twice in 2013.......theres no problems if you park sensible, and views are stunning........your ok to park on the promenade overnight in santander......just turn right along the quayside road off the ferry at santander, go right to the dead end overlooking the harbourmouth and parking is in center of road........whatch the unrailed quaysides, make sure your van is parked in gear...........also recommend the clifftop car park on the east side of bilbao estuary further along towards france......you cant go wrong......steve bristol

Hello, Read about your problem with spelling, on Google tool bar their is a spell check facility, it comes up with red line underneath, right click on the word and it gives you the correct spelling, left click to replace word, green line is sentence and spacing, I use it all the time as the old brain fails to work on occasions, and I agree that it was not an attack on your spelling prowess (see, I can get all the big words right)

big thanks

Thanks to all for the tips on camp spots .
And i maybe did take the attack on my spellings too strongly , but when you are constantly picked up on it by peolpe who think it thier right to correct you when in most instancies it dosent matter it gets under your skin.
Imagine a world where a stranger could walk up to disabled person and say " your walking is rubbish , you should try it like this " it just isnt right.

Any more stopover tips welcome.

thanks tim

not the first time the subject of spelling has come up on here, and i bet you have had some twats showing their superiority by putting you right, over the years. doesn't happen on here as far as i've seen unless it's a bit of banter, and then only against someone who prides themselves on their spelling !
nobody on here should be at all sensitive about such a thing, and if somebody did pull someone up for it,that would be bullying and they would be jumped on immediately !

Getting back to the question you asked ;)

If you don't mind using Aires, then the French website campingcar-infos.com has lots of Aires along the North Coast of Spain.

We stayed in a lovely town LEKEITIO with a good Aire within walking distance of the centre.
