Wild Camping On the Isle of Man

One of the last pieces of common land on the Isle of Man is under threat of severe restrictions for camping, resulting from complaints by neighbouring property owners. The Sulby Claddagh which is one of the few open areas left on the Island with Toilet and Washing facilities on site is the centre of an argument between The Isle of Man Government-Department of Agriculture, Foresty and Fisheries and a local resident over the the excessive use of this land. As a result of this the Government, Daff Division are asking for views from the public as to what they should do with the land.

More details can be found on the Isle of Man Government site/DAFF. The closing date for views from the public is the 9th June 2008. Anyone that has visited the site will appreciate the importance of keeping this beautiful site as it is for everyone to enjoy.
