Wild Camping in a 30ft Motorhome?????

Hi and welcome Sue,

My van is 8.2 metres long and quite a high one (Burstner). It is usually the height that limits our options but we can still squeeze into small spots, albeit slowly and carefully. :D

If you still fancy Northumberland, try Boulmer. The car park is fine and the local pub serves nice meals and a good pint. Turn right at the T junction in Boulmer and the car park is on your left in a couple of hundred yards. I think it is a POI on the download.

ps, I have sent you a pm.

Hi maingate,

Thanks for your welcome and your suggestion re Northumberland and it's nice to hear of places others have found and enjoyed.

I have attempted to send you a reply to your pm (again thank you for such a nice message) but I don't know if I have sent it correctly? Please accept my apologies if I have sent it several times over or if it hasn't come through at all but I couldn't quite fathom out it if had actually be sent or not!

Take care.

Sue

We don't always take our car and next week were off to Northumberland for 10 days and were leaving our car behind as we fancy just touring around and following the road. So if anyone has any info re wild camping spots in the Northumberland area then please let me know. :D

Sue

Sorry can't help with any wild spots but can guarantee you'll have a great time - but then i am a bit biased seeing as I live in Northumberland ;)

Sue, if you can squeeze your new MH into a spot, then go for it.

If you can't, then practicality will dictate, but don't let size put you off, just on the grounds of size.

Apart from that, you're the master of your own fate.

Hi Firefox,

Thank you for your pointers :)

We are touring around Northumberland at the moment and having a really fabulous time. We set off on Sunday and have found some excellent wild camping spots so far and I am delighted to report that we have had no probs getting in or on any of them. Last night, we wild camped at Holy Island (car park just before the causeway) and again no problems at all.

I'm writing this post from Holy Island on my iPhone, so when I have more time, I will post more about our trip when we return back home. Were heading to Hadrians Wall today, so if anyone has any suggestions re wild camping spots in that area, then please let me know.

Safe travels!

Sue

Thanks Bewicklass ... we are loving your part of the world but we really wish we had much more time to enjoy this beautiful area. Sadly, work commitments mean we have to head back home by Sunday!!! Never mind we will definitely return to this magnificent County later on in the year. :)

Happy travels.

Sue

Hi Sue,

At the roundabout where the A68 meets the Military Road (B6318) is a pub called The Errington Arms. Opposite the pub is a small industrial unit which was unused. If it is still the same, you can park in there for the night. The pub does good meals and is an old fashioned country pub with an interesting menu, not your usual pub grub.
