Why Google maps can be crap at times

Sadly, Mark, I left it in the house. I normally put it back in the van after I've downloaded the stills from it. I had just gone down to Merlin's for a bit of help in the van, so I didn't bother. Typically, my luck is not on my side. I need to get a spare 32 GB card for it, then I won't need to remove it. However, I do remove it because I don't like handling them without grounding myself; I once killed one.

But, I guess, in a case like this, you'd only know when you got the letter through post. That means saving a lot of GB's

Eejit, I don't get to have a day out then do I?

Yeah but if you do it online all you have to do is put up a 10 second clip of you nodding your head and looking interested in your Zoom software and you can just tab out and come on here or look at porn or something. If you do the latter and knock one out just make sure you don't accidently stop the 10 second clip and turn your live camera back on. 🤪

The last one I did we had a singing cat and a drunk woman snoring.

Yeah yeah. I bet you are googling how to use a recorded clip of yourself in Zoom right now aren't you?
That'd be no, I am watching videos on how to do stuff, then when something does go tits up, I have a clue how to fix it, because I can't afford to pay someone else to do stuff a real man could do, and I enjoy watching Merlin fix my stuff.

I've driven a Smart #1 Brabus several times, these have a HUD, damn good job to, as even in 'comfort mode' it's all too easy to exceed the speed limit with just a tiny dab on the throttle.
Ahh, I know exactly what you mean! I have that trouble with my carriage! One touch and she is orff like a dervish! Rather like the Mrs...

I work on the theory that its not cost effective for me to fix stuff. You still have to get a pro to fix it afterwards and then repair the additional damage you caused yourself. I agree about enjoying Merl fixing stuff though and you can just pay him in cider. :D Well I say pay him in cider. I drank most of it watching him fix stuff. I did give him a glass when he had finished though. Im not a complete Twat.

And if you drive to your speedo indicated speed at least 5mph below the limit.

Taking these (deliberate) under reading into consideration and then the bit you are allowed over the limit before action we set the cruise control 5mph over the signed limit.
Not these days, they should be 1mph lower at best, hence the road speed vans only allow 1mph over the limit.

Re the maps issue try Magic earth, its free, its offline so download whatever maps you need first (it does live traffic) and you can add your vehicle dimensions from a motorbike to a HGV which is what i use it for as well as the Camper which is 7.4 m and 4.2 tons, in Europe particularly especially Italy we found google maps pretty useless

Does magic earth not send you down low bridges and narrow roads then? It did when I tried it.

It has a truck feature I seem to remember but I don't think its particularly good. I did use Magic Earth for a while and its pretty good but I swapped back to google maps for two reasons. The voices and volume in Earth are just not as good or as loud as Google Maps and I reckon Google Maps is much more "live" and up to date (more users). An advantage of Magic Earth though is it will "start" a route without a data connection if you download the maps previously whereas Google Maps wont even if you have downloaded the maps.

That said I find Google maps really good but you have to plan or at least vet your routes in a big van still but I did that with Magic earth anyway. The greatest feature though with Google maps is being able to plan your route carefully on a full size laptop and then just send it to your phone.

I think I can put dimensions into CoPilot, but I haven't used it for ages, It is a good app though, I just keep it in case Putin starts buggering about. locally.
