Who's wilding at the momment

Horrible drive from the highlands down to Fort William and got a wing mirror smashed off by a bloody tour coach. No chance to stop or get the idiots details. Sat here in pouring rain on a miserable car park afrer a back breaking four hour drive through the most miserable uninspiring landscape i have ever seen on the worst roads I could imagine. But teenager got a McDonald's which seemed to be the most important thing in the world. Im so close to selling this van or just going home right now. Its blowing a gale and its cold

sort of wish I was at home right now.

end of rant.

Sorry you had a bad day Cheryl1, certainly tainted your view of the Highlands, tomorrow is going to be no better weatherwise but as N Brown says once the sun shines you may change your mind.
Lived and worked in these landscapes most of my life, much of it on the top of telephone poles or on my old mans farm or on a motorbike in all weathers, you get acclimatised to it with time and even on days like you have had you can see the beauty of all the shades of horizontal rain on the myriad of browns and greys on the hills. Some of the most spectacular views are deep in winter with torrential rain cascading down the gullies on the hills or snow and frost.
Been off for a few days down Perthshire back up to Inverness and came up to Caithness today, a bit windy and a few showers but pretty good for most of day. Wind much stronger tonight but Caithness is a windy county anyway with a pretty flat profile and sea on 3 sides but these amazing wide open horizons, sunrises and sunsets are more than compensation for the wind.
Hope your days improve.

Still up in Shetland - bit windy tonight but in lovely spot overlooking the sea not far from Lerwick centre. Sort of carpark next to small golf ground, been here a couple of days and apart from Friday during the day when a few workers parked up, and what I assume were a courting couple just after midnight, I have been the only vehicle here.

Have just booked ferry back to Orkney for Monday night. Loving all of this but bus playing up a bit at present. Hope I don't need to go back as was intending to look at West Highlands and Western Isles before heading back. Send me lots of good thoughts please.

Left Shepton mallet ( bath and west showground) yesterday and headed for the new forest. Wilded opposite ocknell camp site....never any problems . Woke up to the ponies and donkeys and spending the day here

I'm sure most would agree with me on here but Vw Alan is one in a million and a real aspiration to us all wild camping or not thanks again Alan and one day look forward to meeting you
