Which levelling blocks

We have used the Milenco triples since about 2015. It was a good choice. We have used them for one three week stop in the Dales and a two week stop in Cornwall, visiting parents. Neither time did anything to the tyres and both time, because of the grip from the ramps, they were easy to use. The ones you are looking at Barry, are all but smooth, I wouldn't fancy that on a wet, buddy surface.

The Milencos we are using are the same one we bought all that time ago and there is no deformation apart from two small areas that we believe was due to the heat (42C in Spain. Not bad for around 10 years. View attachment 146544

Very useful info cheers

This is what the ones I want look like underneath. Some reviews do say the initial step up is too high and they do slip on a smooth surface but more than likely ill use the smaller ones I have on smooth surfaces. I would expect its more about the initial step / lip for slippage then how its designed and they do look a bit lumpy.

Our Triples have slipped once, or maybe twice, on downwards sloping hard surface with loose gravel on top.

With my super size chunky tyres I doubt I will even notice the initial step up.

I think the worry is they will push them out of the way on a smooth surface. Some users have reported this on the reviews. I suspect you might have to reverse onto them or pull forward onto them a bit faster on some occasions. I am not sure if you can get the grip extenders for that model but will find out.

I have the problem of them slipping away when I use them at home on downward sloping concrete, so I put them on some old rubber car mats to stop them sliding

They arrived today. Initial impression unpacking them indoors was "gosh they are big"

But they match the scale of the wheels in particular the width. The coarse height steps is not an issue as we use the air suspension for fine tuning. No issues with them slipping on my smooth concrete driveway, but the secret weapon here is put the truck in low ratio 4WD apart from anything else much kinder on the clutch.

And here is a photo of ours using the other type of triple, you will note the tyre is deformed almost exactly the same, I could have moved a fraction further forward and the tyre wouldn't be quite as much deformed.
P.s. as you can see, to get same height we have to add blocks.

I could have moved a fraction forward as well but on this occasion I was doing this solo without anyone to guide me, and the last thing I wanted to do, was go too far and fall off the steep drop.

This test was driving the rear axle onto the level, the heaviest one, but in practice I would prefer to orient the 'van so it is the front axle that goes up the ramps. With the rear on the ramps the habitation door is a BIG step up.

Nice one. A perfect test. They look good but Colin is right. Similar deformity to the triple but I still say the ones you got which I think ill get look kinder on the tyres and less likely to bend. Milenco said you can't get the grip mats for them but if you say they want up on concrete than thats good enough for me. Also it looks like they have treads anyway

Are those 16" wheels?

17" wheels with big BF Goodrich off road tyres. I won't look forward to the day they need replacing.

On relatively flat concrete ours don't slip, however on steep concrete with a few bits of loose material they have slipped, the ones Dave has with a different pattern underneath might 'bite' in a bit better, the downside is they have less ground contact and will sink in more on soft ground, note the photo of ours, that plank underneath is solid and has been known to sink in a good inch on some occasions.

Was up on my Milenco Triples in Portugal last year for 3 weeks straight and the year before 6 weeks. 3.5t van,no tyre deformation. You're worrying about nowt.

Good to know. Thanks. I think it was a valid concern as our style of motorhoming is a bit different to most and we can often be in that situation.

Barry, i used Milenco Quattros at home to lift the front of the motorhome so all the rain water would run off the roof at the rear.

Right through winter as we rarely used it then so it would be months sat on them, never had a problem with the tyres.

Cheers. I noticed yesterday the Stoned Pizza van which is huge on Woolacombe seafront is up on a set of Quattro's and I guess its there for yonks. :D

So first trip away and tested my monster size Milenco ramps. Used them 3 of the 5 nights away.

BUT on the picture above I BROKE them. There is a woefully bad design flaw in them. The leading edge is a SINGLE thickness of plastic. On the ground pictured above, one of them pushed back slightly when driving up, there was a bit of stone poking out and that broke this woefully inadequate front edge.

I will post some pictures and make another thread about what I am going to do, I have some thoughts of reinforcing this woefully weak design to make it fit for use in the real world. Until then these are only fit for use as made, for dead flat concrete or tarmac or dead flat grass, they are NOT suitable for rough gravel type surfaces as many wild camp spots like this one are.

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear they have broke though.
