Visited here recently and enjoyed it: Hadrian's Wall and Housesteads Fort | National Trust

Big parking bays for motohomes. Fort, visitor centre, decent bit of wall and an easy walk to the sycamore gap.

Few POIs in the area, we stayed at a lovely one in Kielder. Plenty of campsites around too. Maybe not the best side of the country for your trip though.

blade of grass inserted into a dogs ring piece is still a trick to get them to have a number 2 before work never knew it worked on Scots Channa

You'll never get a like or thanks for that, no one's brave enough!

Errr hang on, spoke too soon could that be Trev.? Probably because he has a lot of water between him and the mainland!

On the other side of said wall I believe they didn't even have the dock leaf. Hope that's not the case these days.

Pah. Dock leaves are for Softies. The proper Borderers use the good old Scottish thistle.

Not part of the wall but there is a Fort that has been partially reconstructed at South Shields that guarded the river mouth protecting the "Wallsend" on the other side of the river and importing/holding supplies.

A working Roman Bath House has been reconstructed at Wallsend.

Hadrians Wall

Don't expect too much if you just visit the wall! Because there is nowhere of it to see in it's original condition, the "wall" was 'rebuilt" by the industialist Armstrong,I believe and is a shadow of its former self. That been said there are many ruins of forts that can be visited, Corbridge if memmory serves has the only complete armour kit of a roman soldier anywhere, I think you'll have to do some research to see what catches your eye!

Me and the wife are off on our travels next week I've always wanted to see Hadrian s wall we went to Rome last year and that was stunning and I know it's not going to even come Close to Rome but Can any one recommend the Most interesting / complete bit to visit was thinking Newcastle a upon Tyne area then follow coast down. To Whitby Scarborough

Definitely the south side of the wall harry, if you venture into the north side there will be thousands of hairy ar$ed Scotsmen waiting to disembowel you.
