Where are we actually welcome. A question for the many that say they will just take their money where they are welcome. This is another greatly depressed area that is full of boarded up shops and in need of money. Cleethorpes and Grimsby. This proposal is for only 10 MHs max stay 48hrs. Another case of NIMBY even when their back yard requires a lot of maintenance.

Looks as though we should be welcome, except in the case of the railway operators. Be nice if they were to lay on full services rather than just cassette emptying.

Sounds very odd, you would think they would be delighted to have potential customers on their doorstep.
It seems the country is full of whingers, last week Cornwall's tourism bosses where bemoaning that people where selling up their Airbnb's, not long ago the complaints where of too many Airbnb's and locals not having anywhere to live.

If I went there for a stopover, I would end up greatly depressed. Nice of them to think of us though.

Liz and I used to go out for a drive in the middle of the night, she worked 7 days so our only chance, we ended up in Grimsby one night, we were stuck going round and round trying to escape the place no sat nav and the signs were terrible not been back since so can't comment on the place.

Not been to Cleethorpes since they shut down the bit motorhomes used to park on down near the old amusement park, just before the big holiday park

I think that's where I went and it was so noisy I moved. First the classic cars cruised round with their musical horns then the moped riders started!!! Would not goback.

To answer your first 5 words.....France.
As for the UK, that's a hard question to answer... Colinm got it right, this country is full of whingers
Well done you are the first to answer the question but lets stick with the UK. To say how many there is on this forum that say they will take their money where they are welcome answers are not coming what you might call thick and fast. Just a general area would do. Or is it nobody actually wants us except commercial campsites.

It's slowly getting to be the same in Spain ,especially around the coast. Good thing though is that there are a number of new camperstops (think c l in uk) opening at reasonable , 10 euro ? price . The signs and barriers are going up here although still a few places where it is tolerated.

Stayed in Airbnb for a few days in cleethorpes when van was getting a repair at autotrail
Interesting place !
Had booked for a week , job was done in 4 days . I got tae fekk.
But yes good fish and chips and I found a good pub

Hull is an interesting place.
We had friends doing up a boat in the marina. We parked up beside their berth.
Great pubs and lots to see.
Mind you, that was nearly 25 years ago.
It might have improved, since then.

Yikes, I never did that long lol. Think I did 2 nights in the van when me and Charlie were wandering round.

I seem to remember a few of us booking a b&b in Cleethorps in the early 90’s and going on the raz for the weekend. Was a decent nightclub on the pier back then but don’t recall the name.

Cleethorpe isSue’s, (Daisymini) home town. Fish and chips and ice cream are decent enough :)

"Interesting" covers so many bases ....

BUT yes I'd agree wholeheartedly ...
Some fascinating history
Some fascinating architecture
Some salt of the earth folks
Some of the most feral folks I've come accross
Maritime wise lovely and interesting

Frankly I'm not convinced the Vikings passed hull and carried on to York ...

I reckon your average viking would've taken one look and turned back around andarked it on the map as 'There be dragons'

Hessle road is an eye opener

And as for Goole ....

Err it's a no from me .

That said I love my fave small £10 a night site over there on the side of the river and Some great days in "With"

The situation in Cornwall is a case of conflict of interests. Cornwall is one of the most economically depressed areas in UK. Cornwall's tourism industry welcomes holiday-only accommodation (provided it's not on wheels) because it puts money in their coffers whereas the Cornish hoi-polloi are, in general, adversely affected by property prices being hiked up beyond the financial reach of locals and the winter ghost towns created by entire villages being turned over to holiday lets.

Also, the latest rounds of legislation giving additional rights to tenants while taking them away from landlords hasn't helped. I know three people who bought an additional home way back when with the intention of letting long term to provide some income now and then selling to buy a pension annuity on retirement. Two have sold early to people from the South East who now use them as second homes, while the other gave his tenants notice and now runs it as a holiday let. All three removed a property from the rental sector...

If you look on Search For Sites there are plenty of places we can stay across the UK, that is not in full commercial sites. These range from overnight stops with no services, to Aires, pub stops and tiny basic campsites.

We’re okay for now.
