I drive hundreds of miles to get here and now I’m told that there’s a windmill in Penicuik and another one in Aboyne. Could have saved all that diesel!!
Incidentally filled up in Coldstream on the way down and diesel was 5p/litre CHEAPER than petrol at 143.9.

I thought it was 1st generation turbine on Clarke Penicuick estate

There is this one at Edgehead, with it being so close to Woodburn, the sail were nicked.

Cousin has one in Estonia, not a working one though.

The mill we’re parked up by is a working mill, run as a museum by volunteers. Just spent a fascinating hour or so watching them rig the sails, turn the top of the mill (using a huge wheel like a ships helm) into the right direction then starting it up. Popping in for a full tour this afternoon ( far too hot for cycling today!)
