What type of Drone?

I spent a large wadge of food vouchers buying my Phantom 4 and now wished that I hadn't. The latest announcements by the Government through the CAA are making very bad reading. The big thing is going to be the registration and licencing requirements and the probability of a compulsory transpnder to enable ATC to monitor them with ADSB. This kind of equipment is very expensive as I found out fitting them to my aircraft. The pilot licencing is already very expensive as the CAA want to recover all cost for setting it up. I am not wanting to incur these costs as it might be out of all relation to the use I might get for it.

:confused::rulez:

I wouldn't worry about it too much - it'll change absolutely nothing. The rules for UAS operation were already in place, now it is just being enshrined in law.
The genie is already out the bottle I'm afraid, and transponder use (which may or may not happen) will only be taken up by those that wish to stay within the law and be visible.

It costs very little to build a quad that has the same capability as the DJI / GoPro etc. stuff, and these will never get the logs recorded / geo fencing / height limitation that the law makers think everyone has / is using. To think that the 400' rule (now law) will be adhered to at all, is pure fantasy.

To put the boot on the other foot, if I had a pound for every time our club field (with a NOTAM to 1000') has had low-flying (150-200') spam-cans and microlights noodling through, I'd be driving a Hymer by now. I think there is still plenty of education to be done for all users of the airways.

Oh, and to answer the OP - second hand DJI Spark with the controller and extra batteries (fly more combo) would be my recommendation.
