What Points Of Interest would you want?

What would be handy if on the POI s it is indicated whether the spot is suitable for a larger van.

POIs that are only suitable for smaller vehicles are already marked. So it's fairly safe to assume that the others will be fine - if you should find a POI that isn't suitable, please post an update :D

Speaking as someone who is self contained and has no need of campsites, fish and chip shops or anything else,
I am quite happy with it as it is, of course I realise that others might want more, but me..... no all I want is a quiet spot to park up for the night, the rest I can find for myself if I need too.

Greasy spoon cafes..... Everyone likes a cheap good breakfast

After reading the chip shop thread I was wondering what types of POI locations would be of benefit to our community?

Any thoughts?
As stated in other posts most of the suggested items, including chip shops, are available to download elsewhere, I suggest extending the existing information into Spain, why stop at France?

It's been stated [consensus taken from this thread] that if we are to add any more information it should be on the recommendation of members! most of the POI information available on this site is already!

Why would we want to add someone else's un-recommended, possibly inferior information when it's already there in another format anyway?

The question is still 'what do we want ADDING' not what we don't want.

I'm sure if enough members sent in enough information re Spain than that info too would be used.

There are loads of members, but no all, on here who don't want to see POIs for naked Spaghetti-macrame classes?

Would like to see Spainish Poi included. I stopped at several places there this month but all on a self discovery basis. Also need more poi for around channel ports eg Dunkirk. Not much shown. I stopped at the side of a wood on a side road last week about 45 miles from Dunkirk. Some poi already shown are in quite dodgy areas where I would not to surprised to be broken in. More uk stops near uk trunk roads that are ok for a quick sleep even if no good for a stay. Also something like Caravan Club Cl sites used to be, that's 5 van sites in a farmer's field under a fiver with a water tap and Elena point

Would also add that if it's just cheap campsites get the acsi guide it costs around 12Euro and has proper sites that cost 11 to 19Euro including toilets showers electric and even a pool in some cases. They produce there own poi list anyway. For free sites buy All the Aires or the German Bord atlas full of free and cheap sites around Europe.
I believe Wildcamping has the opportunity to fill a gap between these products. I just want a quiet site where I am self sufficient, legal and get left in peace.

Yes, but you can't download to satnav or autoroute!

Alan

Beg to differ. There's a GPS download link at the top left of the page, which takes you to: Versión 2014 - FURGOPERFECTOS (Para todos los navegadores)

They have the POI set converted to the following formats:

- TomTom
- Navman
- Garmin
- Destinator
- Sigic [sic]
- Automapper
- iGo
- MioMap

Just click on the links at the bottom of the first post in the thread. Registration not necessary.

Spain has been suggested before, and I'm sure it would be of benefit.

However as I have previously pointed out, my time is fully occupied taking care of the POIs for the UK and France. Volunteers to expand the facility are welcome to make contact with me.

Regarding locations around Dunkirk, as ever I can only record places of which I'm aware. Please let me have the location information for the place you mention, plus any others you know about ...

Thanks :D

While a lot of members talk about apps being available for this and that. Don't forget that some of us use old technology (non Smart phones and laptops) for which a lot of these apps are not compatible.

As has been said already even for us there are plenty of POIs available, however how up to date or accurate some of them are is debatable.

I have tech with me but often find in the depths of the country side both UK and Mainland Europe it doesn't work. I depend heavily on paper books and maps. Sat nav usually works though as does Autoroute 10 on a laptop. But POI on an Android device depends on having working network to build the map. It would be nice to have Android map that worked offline

There's a recent update to Google Maps that allows maps to be downloaded for offline use ...
