A little first-hand experience i had last summer...
Stopped for the evening in Cornwall next to a local authority 'No Camping' sign by a secluded beach. Unfortunately a couple of hundred local teenagers had chosen the same night for their beach party. To be fair, the kids were alright and the cops showed up about 11 to herd them homewards.
Looking at our van, the head cop walked over to the 'no camping' sign, examined it with his torch, looked at us again briefly before leaving. Not a word said to us.
I guess at least in his opinion we were not breaking any rules. Either that or after dealing with 200 drunk teenagers he wasn't in the mood for a further confrontation!
