What European breakdown cover do you have

Just read the safeguard policy it all changes at over 3.5 tonne abroad.
Not saying it is bad cover but a lot have not noticed the difference in cover .

Well, all I can say is that my policy covers me for my 4.2 tonne motorhome in Europe - and that the link I posted clearly states no weight restrictions.

Hi
Bit of an aside this as your MH is obviously not Ford based. I get full recovery in the EU for free providing I get my vehicle serviced to schedule at a Ford main dealer. Can,t find better value. Tompa.

Breakdown Cover

As a matter of interest, I have just had my Breakdown Renewal from 24-7 and they are still doing European breakdown for any age of vehicle for up to 90 days for the sum of £59.00, if anybody is interested.

I`ve just had a look but it`s no good for my size of van

It has a maximum of 3.5 tonne gross weight, 5.5 metres ( 18 feet ) in length and 2.3 metres ( 7 foot 6 inches ) wide.

Ah! That's put me out as well at 5.75 metres.

I am sure that was not the case last year - good thing I didn't have to call them out!!

So it looks like ADAC or through upgrading my bank account to cover breakdown (also any age and any vehicle you are travelling in) and includes medical insurance for £10 a month with Nationwide.

I joined ADAC the other week. Couldn't have been easier. Obviously not used it yet. It worked out for the two of us after exchange £85. It covers any vehicle we may be in so that gets rid of the need for RAC here at home for our cars

I was with ADAC but they changed my policy to cover me in germany only (not a lot of use) after we had two claims. They said that we should insure locally as Uk residents. So...good and efficient until after you have had to call them out! Was still good value for that year. ***of it is this is the first time we have evr had problems with the van

I struggle getting breakdown cover ,my Merc 508 is 4600 kg and 1987 vintage ,I believe ADAC will do it.
As far as self help goes we can all 'do a bit' the problem is getting off a motorway to do your bit.

My Hymer S700 of the same age and weight is covered by Saga, no problems getting it insured. £243 fully comp plus £111 Breakdown.
