What don't you like?

I love my Automatic gearbox, but I do not like the short wheelbase with the long overhang, every time I go passed , or get passed, the tail wags the van one way then the other. If I had the longer wheelbase one, that would not happen. The other thing is the multi reflections I get from the flat side windows and the inability to see out of the mirrors in certain light conditions with a low sun in front shining through the windscreen. A class flat glass side windows reflect everything.

the electrics in my Boxer base, I think they were installed using damp string.

If I could rip it out and install a new (non peugeot) loom I would

It's not all bad - at least you haven't got a Fiat one ;)

Could you have some sort of basket that you can put all your cra-useful items into and lift off in one go?

thanks - i do sometimes remember to use a large cloth shopping bag for cra-useful bitsnbobs which i could put on the floor of the van - but when checking the oil i need to have one firm foot in the passenger foot well and the other teetering precariously on the outside foot-step used to get into the cab. I frequently ask a tall man to check my oil for me as they seem to have longer legs and can see further into the deep dark recesses of the engine than i can.

And dont get me started on putting the dipstick back in again..... often takes anyone 3-4 minutes its so flaming hard to see !!!!

but i still love it......

I suppose I should check the oil more often than I do, but I have not needed to top up between services in many, many years.

Just because you don`t need to top up in between services doesn`t mean it doesn`t need checking.

Check ours before every trip, then again at brew time if we are level after 5 minutes and daily ( every morning ) when we are out and about.

Oil check, lights check and clean windows and mirrors. Old habits die hard when you been HGV as long as i was.

I regularly get asked by other motorhomers and caravanners if i`ve broken down when they see me doing it.

Check oil daily by means of computer, and with dipstick every couple of days when traveling. Manually check lights sometimes, but trust the warning light now.

I love my little van - but I hate the bed. I'd like a permanent one.

I'd also like hot water, a bathroom, a wardrobe, a high top, and for the handbrake and gear lever not to be in the middle of the van.

But I don't want it to be any bigger on the outside 'cos it's so easy for parking etc.

I guess that'll be a no, then.

Would you care to elucidate how?

Radio reset.jpg

Unfortunately mine's not a Fiat, but I'll see if that method works. I also have a pm method to try so will report when I've had chance to try them out. Mine being a Renault the sat nav is tied in with the radio, so it may be more difficult than just resetting the radio. The only owner that I know with my system who has changed it found that considerable rewiring was necessary to change the cut off. I don't think that I'd go to such lengths.

Was taught when I first started at the driving school when I was doing my trade training in the RAF to think of this daily. : POWER , petrol, oil water, electrics, road tyres.

Batteries and other fluids and wheel nuts weekly.
Do this and you won't go far wrong.

I just wish that the radio didn't shut off after 20 minutes.
Also I wish my van was still produced so that maybe I could one day replace it with a new one the same.

Might be a daft question, but why is the radio turning off a problem? As it happens, ours stays on, but I always turn it off to save the starter battery. I have a small, battery operated radio which has run for two years on the same battery, and I use it constantly. Much easier than complicated re wiring.

Yes, the easy way out would be to take a portable radio, just would prefer to use the one in the van already. I think that it would take a very long time to have any significant effect on the starter battery, which is topped up anyway by ehu or solar when parked. So as problems go, it's not major. 😊

I would like like a gas fire instead in of a an amp consuming blown air heater.

Having the same Bentley,
We have these lovely JVC speakers, plumbed in the back.
It's a shame not to use them.
We've given up.bothering and now carry a Sony mobile speaker, giving excellent sound, connected to a phone, radio or other device. Bluetooth uses battery power, so it's worth buying a connection lead from a pound shop.
