WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE WINTER IN THE VAN?

Not been away in Winter for some time now. We used to though. Christmas and New year. One of the best ones was the Lake District over Christmas and New Year, I think it was 2010 or 11 when we had a really cold and snowy winter. We stayed on a CL at Hawkshead and got snowed in. It was magical. All the lakes were frozen. Only downside was once the roads were cleared we went on the ferry to Windermere and crashed the bike on black ice. Did a bit of wilding as well. Spent New Years eve on the Honister pass. -17c it got down to. Isle of Wight, Devon and Cornwall one year for a month as well. Both were a real adventure but its not appealed much for a while. Dont mind the snow but if its just blanket rain its rotten.

We’d love to do more in winter and don’t mind the cold (good heater in the van) but the wet does for us. With a big hairy dog that gets clarted up with mud it’s a bit of a challenge.

I wonder, what do others do with their dogs when it is wet and muddy out?

Sounds like he / she needs a trip to Dial A Dogwash and a No1 all over. Meg ( Dog ) has a short back and side before we headed off in September. Cuts down on a lot of mess.

We use our van in the winter months. Our preference is a site with some facilities, so when it goes dark you have something to do. We used to go to Caister in Norfolk but the Old Hall Hotel stopped the MH parking. We now go to Seahouses, in Northumberland. Their off season prices are good, especially as you get full use of their leisure facilities, including bar, restaurant, gym, pool, spa, steam rooms etc. Seahouses is a lovely place and we always manage to get out on the beach, even in January.

Marlene did a Specsavers on him during the summer when he got matted up a bit. He looked a right bonny begger!

We won't be far behind you . We have got the Motorhomer Nothern new year meet at the end of the year , then February let the adventure begin 🤗

Think I need to get reacquainted with with the more northerly reach's of Scotland.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi Gang,
Well I will do what I often do at that time of year & Head as far North into Scotland as i can for around 8 weeks between sometime mid November & heading back south sometime Mid (To End) of January.
As most might know its my absolute FAVOURITE time of year that I tend to just Recharge & Reconnect while enjoying My lifestyle choices aboard The Nest.
So I will Stock & FillThe Nest Up to the brim & Disappear into what is the most beautiful place I know in all the UK. & the best bit is with the amount of people heading South I will have it largely to myself again 😊

Those first 2 piccies look like Cullera.

We’ll be off after Xmas but it won’t be Dover/Calais, Sod driving in France in early Jan. It will be Portsmouth/Santander for us, works out at about the same price taking everything into account.
Also, we’ll have more time in the sun especially if these ****** assholes have their way.
