In a lay-by near Oxford, where I stopped for a while. Tried to start van and saw a padlock symbol.

I've got two keys and both give the same result.

Engine is turning over fine - just had it MOT'd and new battery.

Got out of vehicle and locked it and unlocked it a couple of times hoping to reset - no joy.

AA guy is here and scratching his head.

He's had the headlight off, been into the fuse box and now fiddling with his diagnostic laptop but clearly not getting anywhere.

Has checked fuel line master switch or whatever it's called, it's on.

Any thoughts???

Maybe disconnect the battery for half hour or so? , I’m mechanically illiterate btw but it doesn’t seem to be the chip in the keys if they both show same result, just a thought.

Thanks - he has disconnected battery. Never known an AA man unable to solve a problem... he's been here for over an hour and we are going round in circles.

I've got a bloody great mallet that sorts out all my mechanical problems.

Problem is, it usually sets up new ones.

Good luck and fingers crossed for you.

Similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago turned out to be a rouge fuse giving out a 3 volt reading but did not show on any diagnostic tool. RAC couldn’t find or fix it got relaid 300 miles home. A decent auto electrician found the problem in 10 minutes by pulling fuses and checking them individually. hope you get sorted

I bet the alarm cuts power to the fuel cut of at the pump/ injectors, look for 12v at that point.

If it were me i would get rid of all that electronic cr-p, more bother than its worth, buy or make a pedal lock.

a workmate just had this issue. I know this may sound obvious but it turned out the earth strap to the engine had corroded and snapped. Couldn’t see it as it was hidden. New strap fitted and started straight up.

Had this on the self build, which turned out to be the crankshaft sensor, 07 Citroen Relay, Ford Puma engine, I don't recall if it had a dash light or not.

You only have to mention Windows and the next thing to pop up is a Linux advert. ;)
Damn all use, though, when you're really looking for double glazing ... Then the 'Should have gone to Specsavers for Varifocals' advert appears ... :ROFLMAO:
