We are a Motor Caravan

Yay!
Took about a month but DVLA have changed our converted van to a MOTOR CARAVAN on first time application.

Now to up the weight from 3500. Its actually called a "heavy" with larger wheels, so should also be simple - a paper exercise we think.

Cheap road tax and able to carry a bigger load. (y)

Back in Penwortham, Preston we lived 10 minutes from Svtech in Leyland Rob.

I used them for my upgrade from 3,850kgs to 4,100kgs and took our motorhome to them and sat in reception with a brew and waited for it to be done.

They went outside checked several things including tyre size / load rating and saw that we already had air-assist suspension fitted etc. etc.

Came back inside did the calculation and told me i could go up to 4,100kgs as it was and could do it there and then, i said yes please.

Wasn`t long before he came out with the paperwork including a completed form that needed sending with the V5C to DVLA Swansea and a new VIN sticker which i put on the drivers wheelarch inside the door.

Also, i paid cash so got it VAT free

Last I heard DVLA where not lowering the tax if the vehicle was already registered under 3500kg.

Was gonna use Van Weight Engineering, not SVTech, as had read better reviews (or less not so happy).
Unfortunately just received the following reply to my contact email:

"PLEASE NOTE:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am currently unable to progress any UK weight change enquiries at the moment (Irish & ROTW cases are unaffected).
I am hoping to be back in action as soon as possible, but unfortunately at this time I am unsure of how long this will take to rectify.
Any new enquiries will be logged, & added to my database of people to contact once I'm back up & running again.
If you're emailing chasing the progress on this, as pinky-promised, I'll email you once I'm back up & running again, and your email won't need a reply.
Thank you,
Dee"

VWE have been in stasis, shall we say, for at least a year. I had the same reply when I enquired.
