Hi

just bought a autocruise starspirit 2004. my problem is every time i put the water pump on to fill my sink, water pours out from the overflow pipe which is under the rear of the van. cant understand why this is happening as the water level in the water tank is below the overflow pipe level in the tank.

cheers kevin...

Kevin is it coming out of the overflow or is it the drain off that is open and when you switch on the pump you are emptying the tank

Maybe have a look for a drain tap on the hot water service, the Trumas have a drain tap so that the system can be emptied in freezing weather.

If you have "electric" taps that turn the pump on, then I'd suspect the above.

HI Rob

thanks for your reply. im almost sure its an overflow because it says in the hand book the fresh water tank has an overflow device, also cant see any taps?

kev.

Think it must be the frost protection has not been reset or the drain toggle valve or valves are open. These are usually close to the boiler unit and below the lowest point of the boiler to drain the water. I had this when I first used our van. Water only flowed out of system when water pump was running. Check in hand book for instructions on draining water system this should tell you where these components are.

On my Autocruise Wentworth there is a frost protection / drain valve for the Truma water heater, this is a yellow toggle type valve that can be left in the open position.
on the Wentworth it is tucked away in the side locker (same side as the boiler) right at the back of the locker.
if this is open as soon as the pump is on water will flow out from under the van ;)
The only time the fresh water overflow comes into play is when you fill the tank.

overflow

;)

Is the waste (grey water) tank full, then overflowing when you add more water? If so empty the waste tank.

A big thanks to you as you were bang on, it was the drain toggle valve left open.
