water pump question

HI.

My pump keeps on giving me a split second, to one or two seconds of action without any taps being turned on....
Often it happens 2 or 3 times during the night, a quick pump blast for no reason.

Anyone got any ideas what its trying to tell me? I see no traces of water leaks, so I don't think its trying to replace lost water..... I however am at a loss!!

Water Pump Question.

May depend on the mechanics of the pump you have fitted and how its triggered, (pressure drop or electrical / tap microswitch), if diaphragm pump and pressure drop triggered, it may be both of the pump internal valves are slowly leaking pressure back into the water tank. Some of the pumps, Shureflow Trail King for example are economically serviceable.

water pump is operating as normal, just turn power off at control panel when not in use for any length of time.
then your sleep won't be disturbed
 
Mine started doing the same a few years back, no leaks no nothing and it would prime up fine after drain down each year.

I tried everything and found nothing. It could go a couple of months without doing it then all of a sudden it would start.

I have to have the power turned on at the main panel because the toilet flush is on the same circuit so if turned off the toilet didn`t work either.

I wired in one of these 12 Volt Switch.JPG 12 VOLT 10 AMP ROUND ROCKER SWITCH ON OFF SWITCH CAMPER VAN CAR CARAVAN SW1008 | eBay

That way i can just isolate the water pump at night but leave the main circuit on so the toilet will still flush in the middle of the night.

You have a drop in pressure in the system and the pressure valve in the pump detects it. It can be something simple like a dripping tap, faulty joint between two pipes or even a faulty pressure switch. Ours does it occasionally. If it happens alot then perhaps you should check the piping and then check around the hot water system.

If you have a truma ultrastore water heater fitted check the small bore clear pipe that comes of the small nipple on the red hot water outlet joint, that should pass through the floor, this is actually a breather pipe the red joint I believe houses a non return valve but sometimes they fail allowing small amounts of water to escape thus occasionally triggering your pump.
 
Another possible cause for pressure drop: If you have used the water heater then turn it off at night as water cools so it contracts, pressure drops and pump cycles.
 
You could fit an accumulator, we have one from Fiamma. It is basically a pressurised reservoir and it stops the pump from Turing on for those annoying few seconds.

I think I see a small leak around the tap in the shower room... Seems like that will be enough to upset the pressure..
