Water Pump Intermittent Flow

Problem here is that the water pump we have fitted (uncertain of which model but it's a 12V one that sits in the garage) doesn't always provide a constant flow of water. It's pulses, half a second on half a second off sort of thing. Sometimes it will manage a consistent flow for a moment then drops back to pulsing.

Could be a pressure issue?

Could anyone suggest things to look at to see if we can sort it. We have an outdoor LPG shower and it makes using that tricky.

Thank you

Does your system have an expansion tank in it. If it has it maybe full of water and not working. you could have a blockage in the pipe from the pump or a filter that’s full of muck. Anything that reduces the flow rate will cause the pump to oscillate. There are two systems used. One uses switches to tell the pump to work and the other pumps it upto a set pressure and when the pressure drops the pump kicks in. Ours. Is the latter and if you just open the tap a little you get the oscillation. You could try adjusting the pressure sensor on the pump Most have an adjustable screw.

I have had pulsing from the tap before but that was after it had not been used for a wee while, the problem was the non return valve at the pump allowing water to drain back into the tank.
