the way I do it
We use a lot of water in the wagon and almost exclusively wild camp. As a result I carry hose tap adapters of various sizes and types so I am rarely beaten. Mainly 3/4" BSP but many of the plastic ones come with an adapter to get down to the next size which I suppose is 1/2" BSP. I carry several of the plastic ones as they are cheap but easily lost. I also carry 5 hoses and double male connectors. A 2m hose another 3m and one 10m and another 30m long and another 50m (flat hose). That way I can easily make up all sorts of different sizes as hoses which are too long tend to trail in the muck. All this stuff fits in the gas locker along with my two 11k gaslow cylinders. The hose taps are pretty much standard BSP all over europe. So far as "stealing water" goes, I live in the SWW area and we have water that is more expensive than anywhere else in England. If anyone comes to the south west and flushes a toilet they are taking as much water as I personally use in a day in the motorhome including my shower and I pay for that water and gain nothing from their presence other than congestion on my roads, inflated prices in coastal towns and overloaded medical services.
