Hi, just replied to a thread from Rach82, and the simple way they operate in their travels, and the mention of heating water for washing/showering made me think of the Old "Benghazi".:D Now question is, how many of us know what they are?
A lot of ex military people on the site, and they will know, but if you don't know have a guess. All will be revealed.

Happy Camping:)

Kelly Kettle, that's a posh one Arthur.:D

We used to make them out of a 5 gallon oil drum (top removed and cleaned out) then cut a 3" hole centre bottom and fit a 3" dia steel pipe through the middle of the drum, braze or weld to the drum. This was the flue pipe.
Sit drum on supporting brick or stone pieces, and fill with water.
Fill empty bean or soup can with old rag or sand and soak in petrol, and place under the flue.
Ignite the fuel (stand well back and drop a match down the flue):D :eek:no eyebrows.
Wait until water gets hot.
The later models, had taps, and legs:cool:
Washed up, shaved and cup of tea in no time at all.;)

Some people don't know they are born:rolleyes:

Happy Camping:)
