Last summer bought a Burstner Delphin t680 from Embee in Bury. It was 5 years old and the heating had been modified from Truma to Ebersbacher in 2006. In use we found water seeping over the floor and Embee authorised Ribblesdale in Preston to sort the problem. They say they bench tested and reinstalled the system with no problems but the problem re-emerged after the winter despite the system being drained and frost prevention heating being used. Booked at Ribblesdale for reinspection/repair with the result that on a 10-30 second inspection from 8' distance I was expected to pay up to £460.00 to replace the heater unit due to it being cracked by frost damage!!!
After pointless pressure to suppliers I investigated myself. The leak occurred around the gasket of an unconnected immersion heater that I was unaware of! Big question now - is the tank (insulated with blue 'foam') from the original Truma set up or the conversion? I am guessing the former as the electrics were disconneted. Bench testing shows that the immersion heater works, so can I fit a plug to connect when on hook up - unit is 240w by 1 kilowatt.
Hope someone can advise.
