Mobdro was working fine abroad last time I heard.....Kodi too I suspect....couldn't possibly comment on how you source English tv LOL .... Maja. Oh, none of it needing this vpn nonsense....unless streaming via foreign free wifi...most data sims don't need vpn.....Maja

I don’t know how you managed to watch tv abroad. My phone is with 3 and last year in France it was so slow it was impossible to stream anything. I was also told I could not use my allowance for tethering abroad

You have to have the Advanced plans to tether, if you dont have that it may be why it was so slow I have used 3 to tether for years.

Regarding the 100Gb allowance someone mentioned, you can only use 30Gb of that each month for a personal hotspot so that may affect what you want it for.

I agree with Samileeds on a lot of the streaming, they have the codecs spot on now for a lot of stuff and the data size is a fraction of what it used to be. If anyone watches Amazon Prime stuff on a Fire Stick and checks data they will be nicely surprised, they use some sort of adaptive streaming and I can watch good quality video on an under 2Mb data connection without any buffering (rubbish broadband at home). The fire stick works fine in the tv in the van or did the one time we tried it (so long as you have a signal for phone) and so does Kodi loaded on it. Not used outside UK yet

A Spanish Vodafone Mifi sim offering 50gb on a monthly contract is €35 per month. You have to pay a one off of around €45 upfront for the modem but once you have it you can cancel and reinstate your monthly contract as required subject to required notices. The Spanish Vodafone modem is good for most European countries but not the UK. You require a UK Vodafone modem for the UK. Visit a local Vodafone in Spain or wherever for details.

2hrs of footie will use around 1.7gb of data if streamed in low resolution so 50gb offers around 33hours of streamed footie viewing per month at a cost of around €1 per hour.

You could go for a UK sim and European roaming but fair usage restrictions kick in. Better to use locally sourced sims.

As an aside 1 hour of Netflix on the low def setting uses around .25gb per hour so you could stream 200 hours of Netflix each month.

However there may be other things to do!

Cheers

I would just stop at local bars to watch it. May not be in english, but its fun watching sport with the locals, especially evening matches.

I was in Germany for 1998 WC for first two weeks and had a teriffic time. The germans were taking the piss constantly, some even used sarcasm! :lol-053:

You can always use your phone for English commentary if you need to. I only had very poor school german, so couldn't understand the commentary much but pictures speak loader than words so they say! ;)
