Hello!
We are a family of four who ordinarily reside on the ideal sub-tropical paradise of Norfolk Island - a tiny speck in the ocean measuring 5km by 8km between Australia and New Zealand in the South Pacific. :)
After spending the last four winters touring around New Zealand in motorhomes, we decided to take a year off and live the motorhome life European style.
We have bought an Itineo are heading where the winds shall blow - literally as well as figuratively as she is a big gal!

We have only just embarked on our journey and had imagined that the UK would be very similar to New Zealand for touring. That is, with convenient water and 'dump stations' located in practically every town. Turns out that the reality is a little different!

Hence, we have signed up here! We love free camping and usually only stay in campsites once the laundry has reached epic proportions. Hopefully with the assistance of this site, and your collection of POI's, we may be able to get a little closer to that dream!

We would welcome any tips or local knowledge - such as do 'dump stations' (for chemical toilet waste) actually exist in any form here besides in caravan parks? The same goes for grey water disposal? And what's with the lack of fresh water taps?

Thanks for us,
The Itineo Itinerants

Hi and welcome along to the site. As a full member the POI info is as good as it gets for finding suitable water points etc. Hope your tour goes well.

Hello guys, Welcome to our sucky country!:cool1::cool1::raofl: Must be a bit of a culture shock if you are used to decent facilities. There is stuff out there somewhere, and no doubt you'll get lots of info and advice from the guys on here. Hope you enjoy the experience while you're here.:drive::welcome::wave::goodluck::camper::cheers::cool1:
ps:.we like pictures here, if you get chance to point a camera at anything!

, I had to reread your introduction, I thought for a moment you were from an island off of Norfolk and not the South Pacific, any way , hello and welcome

Welcome.
You might be well advised to join the Caravan and Camping Club.
This will give you access to their small,5 van sites and weekend meets away from campsites. Ideal for laundry and dump points, especially in poor weather. Also a chance to pick up local knowledge and tips about what's on.
Enjoy your stay here.
Keep us posted of your impressions and discoveries.

Hi welcome and it's great you've joined our family forum ,you will be made most welcome if you ever visit jockland

We are in NZ for 6 months and thoroughly enjoying the facilities. Leave any notion behind that the UK is better or even equal to NZ. Finding free water, dump stations or open toilets in the UK is a bit like a treasure hunt with half the clues missing. It helps if you have access to the poi's but even then it can be frustrating.
Have fun.

Welcome to the site and the UK. As you have a large vehicle, try and check the POIs on google earth as some of them will be quite tight. A lot of members have smaller vehicles and find it easy to fit in smaller spaces and easily get where larger ones can't.

Thanks for all the tips!

Thanks for all the tips everyone!

We are learning fast!

Have joined the caravan and camping club after seeing one of the smaller privately run sites - it looked great.

We are about to escape over to Europe (starting in the Netherlands and heading south for three months) and hopefully find a few more free service points while we find our feet and get settled into full time van life.

Will also join the national trust on our return!

Managed to find several POI's using both the app on my phone and our GPS (took a little bit to plot the points in it). However, there must be some type of shielding on the glass which is playing havoc with the GPS when it's inside the van - am currently searching for a solution!

Thanks again!
