waste pipe joints

set about another of my little issues this afternoon, after I'd finished taking the gearbox out of my Alfa (but that's a whole other story)....

anyway, last weekend after just finished showering and thinking that was damned civilised, I stepped out of the shower room/toilet into a puddle, bu99er! and me just having re-done all the silicon joints too

so got under the (cracked) middle tray to discover a cracked waste pipe, no stress there as pretty easy to replace but what concerned me is the waste pipes appear to be only sleeved joints pushed together without any particular sealant to the joint, surely the whole van can't be like this??

oh it's a frankia btw

a lot of campers and caravans do have just push fit joints some are made to come apart when traveling. there is no reason if they are permanent pipes to have a bit of silicon smeared on the joints as you assemble them it would still be easy to take them apart if need be
