washing the van

We took ours to the local Imo car wash, £15 & that included the roof. The guy done a brilliant job so was happy to give him £25

Traffic film remover diluted with warm water in a bucket and a soft brush on an extending pole for the high stuff. I use a garden platform to stand on for cleaning the roof. Rinse down with a hose. TFR removes all the grime easily without scrubbing and finish off with Auto Glym Super Resin polish now and then for a sparkling finish.

You have to look after your investment. :goodluck:

I had a guy I know who does valeting to come wash, dry and polish the whole van - roof included - for £40. It was minging so coupled with the fact I didn't have to drive anywhere I'm happy with that.

I use a 12v pressure washer i bought off fleabay, cost about £80. I used to use a local garage jet wash but at £7 a time i got fed up paying that, now the portable pressure washer has now paid for itself.....

Thanks for the mention Jagmanx. Please don't use TFR without reading the dilution instructions and adhering to them, unless you want to loose your graphics.
I would not recommend using a sponge either, noodlemitts are cheap and far less likely to scratch your motorhome. As for using east European CAR washers, I will just say you get what you pay for.

I'd certainly advise using quality products, this site has plenty with details about each. Car Care Products | Car Detailing Products | Car Cleaning Products. I met someone who had the £2200 tub of wax, which he had won. It did give a nice result!

Muc off caravan cleaner is amazing, even quickly removes black streak.

Don't skimp, specialised products produce the best results.
I'm considering undersealing soon, think that it may be worthwhile long term. Rustmaster and Waxoyl Professional Home Page

Has anybody ever asked the local bus garage for a go through the brush wash, we used to put our delivery vans through the local one when it was still in a building type garage, not a parking lot like now. The buses usually are reasonably clean so they must still do it to them.

I brought two garden sprayer, one for caravan cleaner and one for Bobby dazzled/demon shine.
Fist spring wash is caravan cleaner then silky polish, multi ladder ideal will act as normal ladder for roof and platform to reach high parts.
Then wash with caravan cleaner and rinse off with Bobby dazzled/demon shine when needed.
Cab is cleaned with net parts pro-shine, waterless wash n wax, all black trim tyres I use turtle wax wet and black.
Spend couple of hours cleaning jobs a good un:idea-007:

The only trouble with that is anything fastened to the roof like Aries etc will probably get ripped off

Muc-off great stuff. bit cheaper here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Muc-Off-707...e=UTF8&qid=1418555505&sr=1-3&keywords=muc+off

I think that is the one Maggy keeps shouting at me to buy, sounds like that anyway

Auto Glim shampoo conditioner 5lt £22 in the local motor factors , same stuff in Motor World Halfords and the like bought in 500 ml tubs works out at over £60 , and it's good stuff long car wash brush and garden hose

I'm not too sure about Muc off, several of my customers who have used it have had trouble with it taking all the shine off the van. This may be due to wrong dilution ( same as TFR). For those of you who regularly clean their own vans Maplins have multi ladders at £49.99, ideal platform height for cleaning motorhomes
