hi i am after a folding porta bote either 10ft or 12ft to carry on the roof of my hymer

I had a steel frame one made with cloth, sold it last year as you had to put fenders round it for safety.much better to buy a roll up inflatable dingy which i have new from £200 with paddles in a bag.

There was a ten foot one on ebay a couple of weeks ago with 5hp engine launching wheels
And oars. I won it then ebay messaged to say the account had been compromised and not to
Proceed. Not seen any since.

I saw that. I wouldn't have been too keen on the 5hp 2 stroke though. Probably 2.5 4 stroke would suffice.

Incidentally, I have a Sea-hopper folding boat. Lovely little boat, but at around 7ft probably a bit small for what you want.

Great little boat though, I use mine with an electric outboard.

I've not seen aseahoper before. The ports bote will do 16 mph with a 5hp. I need enough
Room for two adults and dog and all fishing gear.

Having used a Portapotty - err - bote, I wouldn't recommend them for sea fishing - sheltered inland waterways only.

They are actually rated as category 'C' so ok for inshore, up to Force 6 winds and waves up to 2 metres.

Having said that, I wouldn't use one unless it was flat calm at sea.

I think an inflatable might be a better option.

16 feet is about the smallest boat of shore round scotland unless the miss has you well insured, and a displacement boat is best rather than a plaining boat which will spin about like a bar of soap on a ice ring.:scared::boat:

I have used two planing boats up the west coast for years. A 3.5 metre rib with a 15 Mercury two stroke.
And a 3.5 metre seasrike aluminium semi flat bottom with a 20 up Mercury 4 stroke. With no problem
In rough sea. I had a displacement 17 foot but it could not go against the current through kylreha at
Incoming tide. The infatables are a bit wobbly especially going across the whirlpools.

Corryvreckan I presume?

I'm in the process of buying a tinny, similar to the Seastrike, and will also be visiting the West Coast.
