Wanted--- motorcycle

I am over 50 (62) and my first bike was a 175cc, but a Honda. Never owned a British bike, I moved from Jap to German, but could settle on a Brit now.

CB or CD my first motorbike after scooters was a CD175 all I had left of it was the RH 175 badge off the side panel so it started a restoration that ended up like this.

Y'know, since I posted this thread, so many memories have been evoked. I posted about being nicked for pinching a Bantam, and then a post came up with their first bike. My first was a sprung hub speed twin that I bought for £8.00, no licence, no tax, no insurance either. If I'd kept it I would probably be able to afford a villa in the south of France. But that was the way it was. We all bought our bikes, mainly 50's vintage, at the local coffee bar, but remember that our weekly wage was in the £2.10 area( well mine was). Although just before I met Sue in 1963 I swapped my then latest bike for a Jowett Bradford van, it must have been kinda special, cos after more than half a century, she's still cooking breakfast for us. This has also led me to rooting through the toons from around then ( I do have a few that are rather special tho) this is another one that has reared its ugly head
YouTube

You’ve certainly taken us down memory lane!

BTW, must be an incredible Jowette van to cook breakfasts for 50 years!

Well it's gorn, bought by an antipodean relation of a neighbour , so what now????? Any suggestions? Sadly I cannot afford the W650, much as I'd like to but needs must.

Looks a lot like mine. Except mine starts, stops and doesn't pee oil all over the floor!

I really am sad that I cannot afford it, it seems ideal for a geriatric old rocker. I rode one donkeys years ago when our local (now defunct) bike shop got one as a demonstrator, kick start and electric leg too. Still, life moves on. Thanks for the offer though

Good luck with the search. :)

Have you thought about a Honda Deauvillle Peter. Pick them up with panniers etc if still scratching the itch to go continental. A decent middleweight that keeps you on the road and a lot lighter than the BMW.

Being a middleweight should be easy to handle, and enough ummph to stil put a smile on your face without the contortions and antics of the likes like an R6

Chris suggested an earlier Fazer 600 , Great bikes especially the ones derived from the Thundercat, Mine had the detuned r6 engine and managed south of France twice on it. There is a good aftermarkets parts availability and a strong owners club for the techy advice

A Deauville here for sale as an example

HONDA NTV650 DEAUVILLE 650cc | in Tonbridge, Kent | Gumtree

Channa

Cheers Andrew, I'd thought about the Dullville, I just need to try and get my leg over and see if it would do. They do seem to be well looked after probably because they are owned by old duffers like me.

It probably won't be any help, it weighs in at 233kg compared to your GS1150 at 229kg (both dry weight). The SV650N dry weight is 167kg
