Reluctantly selling our rare T4 Syncro High Top LWB Transporter. We bought this as a base vehicle to convert into a 4x4 campervan but our new business means we won't have the time and actually need a people carrier instead
These vans are like hen's teeth to find and this one belonged to SW Water for most of its life, so was regularly serviced and looked after (partial history and lots of old MOT's available). It's a 1994 on M reg, 119,000 miles. The last owner put in a replacement engine: 2.4 non turbo 5-cylinder diesel, 77bhp version, which had done about 70,000 miles and has had only a few thousand added since. It's got great pulling power and is more lively and willing - and nicer to drive - than either of our previous two T4's, which had the smaller engine. The 4wd has saved the day on a few occasions too
I bought a brand new ply liner for it but haven't got around to installing it yet, so that will be included. They reckon a few hours work to put it in if you haven't done it before. (If you want to convert the van to a camper, it's an advantage to be able to put the fabric wall covering onto the ply before you install the liner panels. Also, the converters I spoke to about windows reckon it's easier to cut any extra windows you want before the ply liner goes in. Not sure about that?) The liner is sufficient to cover the side walls, bulkhead, sliding side door, wheel arches and rear doors.
The bulkhead between the cab and the van body has a perspex window (currently taken out for extra ventilation but easily put back in) and a deep shelf above the cab. We were planning to cut the bulkhead out. The 3-seater bench seat splits and the 2 seat section folds flat to make a table. Seatbelts for 3. The rear doors have the unusual high windows installed, complete with wash/wipe, and let in lots of light. All the tyres are good, including the spare, and there is an excellent Kenwood CD/Radio/MP3 player. New exhaust and brake pipes fitted 3 months ago. It's MOT'd to 14th September 2012 and was taxed to end December 2011: just SORNed it). It's been brilliant off road and in the snow...the 4 wheel drive kicks in automatically if a wheel starts to lose traction and there is manual diff-lock too, which I've hardly ever needed to use. As an off-road campervan it would be awesome!
For its age the bodywork is very good but obviously it's not as smart as a new one. There are a few dings and some rust on a couple of the wheel arches. The driver's seat has a mend on it and there has been some welding done to the sills but it got through its MOT fine just a few weeks ago. The interior of the rear is clean but the glassfibre high roof has a small patch on the inside, above the shelf, which is watertight.
Will try to get some pics of it loaded but if interested PM me and can email you some. Looking for around £4000.
