We have 2 phones and a dongle on a pay monthly contract with Vodafone. I have been a customer of theirs for 30 years.
I have just logged onto my Vodafone account and Vodafone have taken the passport off my phones without informing us.
I had loggon on to find out the date for my contract expiry. No where on the information is there a date for the expiry of the contract and all they refer to is your plan. They do say "You will be able to upgrade this number from 26 August 2012" but not the actual date the existing plan expires.
I did have a salesperson trying to get me to change to another plan in early June. I complained to that operator that I had been refused Data Traveller last October and was told I couldn't change untill my contract ended in September this year. I refused to do anything until then. I did say I would take up Data Traveller then.
In this conversation he did not disclose to me then that Data Traveller was going to be withdrawn or that passport was going to be withdrawn. He did confirm that I had passport on my plan. That was within 28 days of the new changes taking place. A very cinical move I now realise on Vodafones part. I have had messages on my phone saying that I had passport before the 1st July.
I now think this was a sinical excercise by Vodafore to get customers to change their contracts, tying them into deals that would go well beyond 1st July and so lose the chance of changing provider without paying a termination of contract fee.
T mobile are offering a far better deal of £10 for 50Mb of data in Europe which can be used over 30 days unlike Vodafones old deal with was for a day from Midnight to Midnight for the same cost. We intend to switch at the end of our Vodafone contract period.
