What do you mobile van lot cook up when ure out and about?

Had steak, chips n peas last week in the wind n rain:)

Always trying to think up simple but tasty meals

You name it we can cook it, from roasts to sumptious salads, a never ending feast of delights, just like at home but less frozen ingredients!
Sample the local delights too, (Just finished my Pengenna Pasty and Scones with Clotted Cream, picked up yesterday morning as they were just being baked in Tintagel after surviving the wind and rain the night before)

Rough weather in Cornwall

It was a rough time for you last weekend Cobaltkoala. I live on the same coastline, nearer to St. Ives. I hope you still enjoyed your stay at Tintagel.
Did you stay overnight at the King Aurthur's parking lot, £3.50 for the night.
The old Post Office is a Heritage building and the walk down to the sea is okay up quite a climb up.

Mmmmm

We mainly BBQ although I do admit we use a gas one not a genuine charcoal one! It has a Paella type stir fry plate and also a griddle plate that both replace the grill on the top so we tend to do things like BBQ meat with salad, kebabs with salad, stir fried chicken or prawns & onion with rice or cous cous. we tend only to use the inside hob for kettle boiling or warming things through and the oven for baked potatoes or a lovely lasagne.
Cooked breakfasts are usually done on the griddle plate in a morning (the kids love cooked breakfasts as we only have cereal at home!)

Try to get yourself a skillet (just 2 pans that clip together) they then become like a small oven, I do Jacket Potatoes, Cheese and Ham toastier or even do a full dinner joint of lamb in bottom skillet and veg in top one, used ours all season as we only have 2 burners no grill or oven and find it one of the best things we have in the van. They can be bought at any of the motorhome shows and worth every penny.. Carol.

I blatently need to get more adventurous with the cooking!

Peeps through fingers covering face with shame

My 10 year old has just read my posting and told me I have to put up that we also have the odd Pot Noodle a couple of times a season (all 3 kids absolutely love the cardboardy "snack").

b4 i had a cooker that was breakfast, tea and supper along with beer!

Memories...

I remember my student days....... The heady smells of Pot Noodle or spaghetti with tomato sauce "cooking"!

Great Place

It was pretty rough but we parked near the upper side fencing and the shake rattle and roll was minimised. (Spent week before parked right on beach at Chesil so thought we had felt the worse)
Great place, top walks, although at one point we had to crawl behind a wall to stop us being blown away ... LOL. (Just eaten the last of the pasties and clotted cream - Not together!)

The Car park is £2 to park all day and £3 to park all night 4pm-10am so for a fiver its position is hard to beat. Great meals at the Crossbow too.

Tintagel

Glad you enjoyed the day Coboltkoala. There are 2 other pub parking lots that charge £1 all day, before you get to the King Aurthur Car parking lot. I too always park at the back end by the fence and run my gene: to watch TV.

"Van Cooking"

(Its getting near Christmas, and only a few days before we hit the road to spain, so please excuse my response, but I can't resist it)

I've never tried cooking my van - it won't fit in my skillet !!!

voxy (with apologies)

Only have a Freeview System and couldn't seem to get any TV at the Car Park. Don't have the old style TV as it seemed a backward step DOH!

Think we having pork with apple sauce, roast potatoes and carrots and stuff Friday, gonna park up sumwhere and have a van link up!

We park the vans about 5inches apart and tarp the gab so its like a tunnel

TV

I do have a digital selfseeking sat dish, but it only works in Europe,as I have a German MH. I can change the freq: if I need to pick up England, unfortunately I am not a smart cookie electronically.Further more I use a tv as it has a built in DVD and video cassette.

Errrr....... I think you've lost the thread there chaps........this is the grub bit.

And to be honest.......I'm waiting for the menus.......

Grub bit

My apoligies Jondeau, I slipped up. Racking my brains how I can cut and paste
or I can wait until our MH buddy Cobaltkoala gets to read it, them I delete it. Grub!!!! I have just had home made prawn chow (noodles) Even make it on the road. I have a big wok and also deep pans to make vindaloo and basmati rice. I bet your tongue is hanging out!!!!

Keeping the thread happy... I just had my Porridge!

Nothing wrong with the analogue TV set up just didn't go for it as have been getting freeview most places. Perhaps Tintagel does not accept it until its called "Kings Arthurs Freeview"

Glad to hear you have a big 'wok' it will help weigh down the campewvan in the expected hurricanes ... Oh Yes there are!

Keeping the thread happy... Thinking of making a coffee!
