Hi

My Renault base was due for its first service, having checked out a few main dealers who cannot accommodate my vehicle, I came across this internet site.

http://www.prestigevanservicing.co.uk

Prices appeared attractive so I gave them a call, explained that I wasn't just handing my keys over to a guy who turns up at my house. He gave me the name and contact details of a local garage that should be able to service my van, whilst adhering to Renault service requirements and at/near the advertised price. I took it yesterday and was only presented with a bill for £105 inv vat. That's at least £75 cheaper than my not local Renault dealer.

Would it adhere to the warranty though because a warranty is only as good as the people that write it and if they don't feel like upholding it they will find a way of getting out of it. Hope not but you know what they are like.

Did "Europe" not deregulate the servicing of vehicles a couple of years ago? In other words free up the places you can get a vehicle serviced without breaking the warranty, but how would you know if the servicing complied with the schedule? It could be a tricky one!

We own a family run garage. Our charge for most vehicles for a major service & MOT Test if it needs it, is around £120.00. to £130.00. New vehicles which are covered by manufacturer's warranty, can be serviced at any reputable garage, as long as genuine maker's parts are used.
Hope this helps.

We used Essanjay of Poole as not only are they motorhome specialists but are Fiat approved (We're Ducato owners) and come very highly recommended via MMM, but at £231.59 are probably not the cheapest you'll find but as it's only once a year I thought it was worth it for the piece of mind. The only thing they forgot was to re-set the dashboard service indicator - but did it on the next visit to Poole.

Perhaps we should start a new thread... where to get your m/h serviced at a reasonable price!

service

Car and commercial, unsworth street Radcliffe, excellent service :)

first service

done at a fiat dealer olds dorchester quoted price £220 for the service
they said it would be needed for two hours i had to wait so i watched .
i timed the actual time spent with someone doing something 40 minits only
for a low mileage service the book says 1.55 hrs
they did ask if there was anything else they could do i said the top rear lights are intermitant ,, sory they said thats a camper part we dont touch that they said all the back lights were add ons and not the original so they could only advise me of a problem not fix it unless i was prepared to re book it in and pay £60 per hour yes £60 per hour labour ,,,no chance
i played up over the price they wanted and was told my ammended bill would be for £181 after looking at the bill i noticed the oil filter cost a stagering £16.20 and the oil £46.10 for 6 ltrs !
being involved in transport of all sorts for over 30 years i know what a mark up this is.
but what choice do you have you have to keep up the warentee
